"The Lamp of umm Hashem" is one of the cultural pieces of literature in Egypt that is why it is full of "Culture-Specific Items".Dealing with such items is somehow critical as one inaccurate technique in translating one word may lead to a totally inaccurate translation or may lead to a different meaning in the target language from what is meant in the source language. This work is an attempt to show how translating a literary text from one language to another without paying attention to the cultural meaning of the words may affect the target text in the way that makes it lose its source sense.
