About Bronx Love Thing
Shamar "Skip" Love seems to have it all. He has millions of dollars, fame, stardom, and a beautiful wife as the star centerfielder of the New York Yankees. He's the face of MLB and is in the midst of the greatest season ever played in baseball. Skip is breaking every record in the same season. He is a Bronx born baby and Yankee Stadium was his crib. He always dreamed of being a Yankee. Skip's painful past is marred by being molested as child by his baseball coach. Skip's father, Willie Love, taught skip the game and everything he knows. Willie kills the man that has abused Skip and gets sent to prison, leaving Skip and his mother Carmen alone.
While a star #1 prospect in high school Skip is a 4.0 GPA student all while being homeless. Skip will eventually live out his dream and become a Yankee as well as the highest paid player in the league. Which seems to annoy a TV personality, Ron Dwyer, who has an obsession with his criticism of Skip because he has the stats but hasn't won a championship in the Bronx. Skip's play on the field is perfect which makes his life off the field a target. Accusations of PED use, jealousy from teammates, rivals, violent confrontations from angry fans, and infidelity in his marriage. It is a story of perception vs reality. A story of love, family, molestation, fame, and sexual abuse with baseball being the backdrop in this BRONX LOVE THING.
