The IBP 'check-sheet' survey was devised to gather information on how to protect sites and species for future scientific study. This 1980 volume explains the survey's procedures and the problems of securing adequate descriptions of types of vegetation and soil and suitable methods of information storage and retrieval.
Originally published in paperback in 1990, this book's purpose was the accurate identification of all British plants.
This is a companion volume to Flora of the British Isles. The drawings are by Sybil J. Roles. The drawings assist users of the Flora to recognise species by supplying a visual supplement to the text. They are from fresh specimens and deliberately aim to give an impression of the living plant.
