Living as a person of color in America can be so hard. The plight of minorities can be documented, viewed and taught but the daily pain will never be clearly understood unless you are a minority while living in America. A minority that suffers from a mental illness such as depression has a double battle to fight.. discrimination and depression can be a fatal cocktail for some. The Tootsie Roll Pop commercial jokingly states "How many licks does it take to get to the center of the tootsie roll pop?" How many licks of life does it take to make a person want to give up? Dale had enough of life's lickings; but God had different intentions for her. The crushing of our fruits will be forth a sweet tasting wine! Depression is real and should be treated like any other disease and that is to nurture it with treatment, love and patience. Let your light shine to lead and encourage others. Let your hope be contagious!
