The Father in heaven asks, and requires, and actually expects, that every child of His yield Him whole-hearted and entire obedience, day by day, and all the day. To enable His child to do this, He has made a most abundant and altogether sufficient provision in the promise of the New Covenant, and in the gift of His Son and Spirit. This provision can alone, but can most certainly, be enjoyed, and these promises fulfilled, in the soul that gives itself up to a life in the abiding communion with thee.
Throughout his ministry, Andrew Murray passionately prayed and taught people about prayer. In this volume he combines his devotional writing with his only study guide on prayer: "Pray Without Ceasing." His simple but profound goal is teaching Christians how to change the world through the powerful ministry of intercession.
When Jesus "made himself nothing...taking the nature of a servant," He modeled for all believers true humility. Andrew Murray calls this "our true nobility" and "thedistinguishing feature of discipleship." With insightful, penetrating clarity, Murray calls all Christians to turn from pride, empty themselves, and study the character of Christ to be filled with His grace. Often called the best work on humility ever written, this edition has been edited for today's reader.
Andrew Murray traces obedience through the Bible, from Genesis to the ?nal chapter of Revelation, in a warm, inspirational devotional study. It looks at the issue of obedience in the lives of Bible characters and focuses the reader's attention on the obedience of Christ. Practical as well as inspiring, A Life of Obedience speaks to today's reader as clearly as it did to his audience a century ago.
In Murray's classic devotional style, he shows the way to new freedom and power, beginning with the truth that "carnal Christianity" is not true Christianity. He clearly and convincingly presents the "one decisive step" that believers can take to move from the old life to the new life. Murray begins with the biblical command to be filled with the Spirit and ends with the assurance that "ye are the branches" and completely dependent on the Vine for life.
Inspiring and Practical Teaching on the Work of the Holy SpiritIn 31 clear, concise chapters, Andrew Murray shares his insights on all aspects of the Holy Spirit's work in the Christian's life. This helpful study includes* Being filled with the Spirit* Walking in the Spirit* The Spirit's ministry in the churchand much more.Readers today will find this classic devotional study as timely today as when it was originally published in the 1880s as The Spirit of Christ. "Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you?" 1 Corinthians 3:16
Writing to encourage believers, Murray desired that all Christians discover the abundant life in Christ available to those who pray fervently. Identifying prayerlessness as a serious sin of omission, he instructs sincere believers in how to be delivered from this sin and make prayer a priority, resulting in the blessing of renewed fellowship with Christ. Originally titled The Prayer Life, this devotional classic includes examples from the lives of the apostle Paul, George Müller, Hudson Taylor, and more.
Using Jesus' words in John 15, "I am the vine; you are the branches," Andrew Murray explores how the believer abides in Christ. In a message as timely today as when first published in 1895, he urges readers to yield themselves to Jesus, in order that they may know the "rich and full experience of the blessedness of abiding in Christ."
Finding the Power to Overcome SinNow together in one volume, The Power of the Blood of Jesus and The Blood of the Cross take believers step-by-step through Scripture to understand why the blood of Christ has unparalleled power and learn what promises were made to all believers when that blood was shed. Written in Murray's classic devotional style, The Blood of Christ examines both Old and New Testaments to help Christians grasp the truth of redemption--at the time of salvation and on through life as a follower of Christ.Click for more Andrew Murray Classics!
The author has been running since 2005 when he realised that it might be a good way to see a bit of the world. But in 2010 he devised a challenge that put all his previous attempts in the shade - to run from Scotland to the Sahara in one continuous push with no rest days. This book tells the story of that run.
