Electrically-assisted transdermal delivery also called iontophoresis is the facilitated transport of compounds across the skin using an electromotive force. The predominant mechanism for delivery is iontophoresis, although electroosmosis and electroporation have also been investigated. This Technique employed an innovative self-contained battery that produces an electric current to carry drug molecules non-invasively across the skin and to underlying tissue. Clinical benefits, industry interest, regulatory precedence, and strong market potential have made transdermal iontophoretic research the fast growth area in drug delivery.
Diagnosis of the etiology of tooth discoloration is the most important determinant of the success of any tooth bleaching. The next most important predictive factor is the condition of the teeth and the mouth, especially, the presence of compromised teeth that would prohibit the use of either bleaching agents or increased temperatures.
