In 1789, Daisie falls off a ship and lands in Philadelphia where she meets Eliza Principle, a twelve-year-old girl. Daisie is a doll but can walk and talk-which she keeps secret. Eliza wants to be popular with the girls in town and thinks her doll can help her but soon learns Daisie's secrets may get her into trouble.
