In a busy world of things to do and places to be, a "quiet time" seems like just one more activity to add to our already over-booked agendas. In this 17th century spiritual classic, featuring the letters and conversations of Brother Lawrence, we're informed that God doesn't just exist in the areas of our life that we deem religious. He's closer than our breath, encapsulates our being, and desires to be part of our everyday activities. For Lawrence, "set times of prayer were no different than other times, and his work didn't divert him from God". His practical simplicity brings a depth of wisdom that all can apply to their lives. This beautiful paperback of The Practice of the Presence of God retains its original translation, while featuring 21 new contemporary woodcuts. All proceeds from the sale of this book are donated to charity.

Feelings. We all have feelings. Sometimes we express them; sometimes we don't express them; sometimes we try to express them, but it doesn't come out right; sometimes we just don't know how to express them the way we really want to. Sometimes what is on the inside comes out different when it gets to the outside. This book is an attempt to match what is on the inside with what comes out on the outside. It is not necessarily the right way or the wrong way; it is just a way. Maybe you can "feel" these feelings, maybe you can't. Sometimes we are inspired, sometimes we are inspired to inspire others. I just want to share these feelings with you and hope something comes out of it that is good. Maybe you will feel them as Poetic. Brother Lawrence, formerly known as Lawrence Brown, is a native of Washington, D. C. He was born and (mostly) educated in D. C., but currently resides in Prince Georges County, Maryland, right outside of Washington, D. C. Most of his career was spent working with people in teaching, counseling, training and managing educational, recreational and social programs for all ages, sexes, creeds, races and ethnic groups, and special populations. He is retired and spends most of his time, skills and gifts working in a ministry he founded about 15 years ago. It is based on Christian principles and the Word of God. He believes that love is the greatest known power in the universe, and that God is the epitome of love. The ministry is called IAAG (Pronounced Eeeyagg), because It's All About God.

This classic of devotional literature was written sometime in the late seventeenth century. Its author, Brother Lawrence, was born Nicholas Herman, and served as a soldier before becoming a monk in his middle years, some time after receiving a severe wound that left him in lifelong chronic pain. Following a series of spiritual trials, Brother Lawrence discovered a system that allowed him to be conscious of the presence of God on a continual basis, throughout all of his daily life. In this book, (collated by Joseph de Beaufort, counsel to the Archbishop of Paris), this simple, holy man explains the means and practices by which anyone may learn to walk continually in the presence of the Almighty.
