The second in a trilogy that follows Stylar who is motivated by the guilt of being created through the exploitation of a people he comes to know as family, we begin to find out about the others around him their motivations, change is inevitable and we find out it always comes at a price, a future that isn't certain a past that will always be honoured.
The second part of the story as Stylar tries to save part of a society from a dying world, life he has come to realise is about compromise, the society he has chosen is not what he expected and questions, need to be asked, will they help his own people as they begin a new life? Will they adapt? Will they be the end of his journey? Stylar and his small band race against time, not only to save a people but hopefully be reunited with their loved ones, who they sent to the stars, while he forges uncertain truces, back in the hangar, his technicians piece together an unfinished craft, will it lead them to their new world or their end?
This story is about a life of a people who have known nothing but slavery, prophecy plays a big part in their lives, the story of a saviour has been told over the centuries, now their existence is threatened by an experiment that was started over a century before, now not only are the people threatened but the world they inhabit is close to death, so not only do they have to break the yolk of slavery they need to escape the dying world, the race they have slaved for might have the means to do this. Stylar born into a world he quickly has to understand, a destiny that will lead him and his brethren on a journey, time is always against them and sacrifices have to be made, the first of a trilogy which follows the peoples lives.
Stylar, born from centuries of experimentation, and his brethren are to replace a workforce created five centuries before. After complications, he is smuggled into the community they are a slave race. Stylar's physiology develops quickly his cells mutate and he becomes a voice in the community, the world beyond the mines is dying and only a matter of time before the population can no longer be sustained, challenges are constant, this community and Stylar and family will influence a way of life, some parts of the story are daily events but there is also the mythology of a community and the indifference their masters show above as well as bellow. Will prophecy change the fate of a world or will the masters of the community remain in control? This is part two of the first book in a trilogy.
