Despite marked similarities, Gadd45 genes are regulated differentially and exhibit functional diversity.  Gadd45 proteins respond to physiological and oncogenic stress, and are implicated in cell cycle arrest, DNA demethylation and repair, apoptosis, cell survival, genomic stability, and inflammation.
