Originally published in an obscure magazine, this extended article gives us the most complete picture we have of ethnic Hungarian participation in the American Civil War. It includes 61 short biographies of officers, illustrations, anecdotes and incidents from the war, and statistics and incidental information. The author well demonstrates the point that a tiny handful of immigrants produced a significant portion of Union leadership, all out of proportion to their population. This is not a facsimile reprint but a completely new typeset and designed volume.
