This work investigates the state and challenges of teaching English to gifted pupils. Research findings reflect principles, teaching techniques, types of activities and materials used in English language lesson of gifted pupils, teachers' qualifications, experiences, beliefs and problems, and foreign language learning strategies of gifted pupils.
The study provides a holistic overview of intercultural teaching in English language education at Slovak primary schools, including analysis of the Common European Framework for Languages, reflections on the national curriculum, and investigations of teachers' attitudes and their teaching of intercultural aspects in the English language lessons.
