Heines satiriske epos fra 1843 handler om Bjørnen Atta Troll, der sluppet fri af sine lænker. Bjørnen symboliserer det modsætningsfyldte og umådeholdende Tyskland. Digteren begræder sit lands elendige skæbne, men samtidig deltager han sammen med den infame Laskaro i jagten på det undslupne dyr gennem Pyrenæernes bjerge og dale. Eposset er oversat af den danske digter Sophus Claussen.
