The WCML and the line from Kilmarnock to Gretna were both built to ensure that services from Scotland would connect to cities in England. The changes to motive power, liveries and services over the last 30 years are reflected in the photos. The five years either side of 2000 was a period of change on the railway network. The British Railways network was initially split into three companies, but all ended up being purchased by EWS. By 2005, the railways of Central Scotland had evolved almost beyond recognition. With 150 color photos, this book records the changes to the main network.
