The book presents new metaphysical tendencies in 20th century French philosophy (1930s-1960s). Particular attention is given to the writings of Louis Lavelle, Ferdinand Alquie, Jean Wahl, Maurice Merleau-Ponty, and Emmanuel Levinas.
