Thirteen-year-old Daniel Barker is a typical boy, except that he has a magical book from Egypt which gives him 99 wishes. This Scrivener book was passed down from his grandmother to his mother to him. He receives it on his tenth birthday. He hopes this will also impress Charmaine, the cutest cheerleader who has shown an interest in him. This sets off a chain of events which Daniel has to try and stop.
