He was involved in a variety of educational enterprises, including the founding of Head Start, of which he was a major architect.

Part of a two-volume set, this volume 1 includes a selection of the author's writings about education from 1957 to 1978. It contains an introduction by the author, which gives us an overview of the 1957-1978 years and contextualizes his selection of papers.
