The unique status of Israeli women who perform their mandatory military service represents a topic of considerable research interest, which has already been discussed in different ways and from different perspectives. However, this paper analyzes the question of whether and to what extent the military service influences the self-concept of Israeli women. The approach of this book is an interdisciplinary one with the focus of the women's own self-concept combined with sociological approaches and a perspective of Gender studies. Via narrative interviews and the thematic analysis method the research question is answered using qualitative research which works with retrospective memories about the time before, during and after the army.
