This classic edition, reissued here, was based on lectures delivered by John Connington during his tenure of the chair of Latin at Oxford in the middle years of the 19th century. Edited after his death, the book has been accepted as the definitive work on Persius.

This is the first revision of the texts of the satires of Persius and Juvenalis in the OCT series since their original publication in 1959.
