First published in 1850, this short account by Robert Anstruther Goodsir (1823-95) describes the 1849 mission in search of Sir John Franklin's missing Arctic expedition, on which his brother, Harry Goodsir, died. The dangers encountered in forbidding conditions are described in great detail, illuminating mid-nineteenth-century Arctic sea travel.
