This work brings together contributions which examine various Islamic and selected Jewish writings, analyzing their ideas, methods, sources and meanings while relating them to new historical and political societies as well as to ancient and medieval writings for comparative purposes.

This volume contains papers on both medieval and modern aspects of Muslim-Jewish relations. The mutual influence of Islamic and Jewish texts is explored, as well as the perceptions Muslim and Jewish writers had about each other. Isral'iliyat literature and Arabic wine poetry are included.
