Many of the events in these stories actually happened. Most were related to me by my father and his father. Passed on as bona de experiences in their lives and their neighbors' lives. A regional history transported like the songs of a troubadour. Told at meeting places, county fairs, and social gatherings, they carried excitement and avor about people who wrestled to survive and prosper. An inseparable part of these hard-working folks were their horses. Muscles, sweat, and a strong back were vital tools for survival. Horses t right in as obedient members of the family. A dedicated, loyal power source that helped shape a nation. Many a tankard has tipped to a worthy animal and their story deserves telling. Here are a few of those stories.
