Great British Films of the 1940s is a reference work that deals with a comprehensive look at forty motion pictures made between 1940 and 1949. Stars of the period include, James Mason, Margaret Lockwood, Dennis Price, Stewart Granger, Jean Kent, Phyllis Calvert, Eric Portman, and many others. This book entitled Van Der Valk: The Series, is the first and only book to deal with all 32 episodes of the series which starred Barry Foster as Dutch Detective Commissaris Piet Van Der Valk. The were five separate series: 1972, 1973, 1977, 1991, and 1992. The series was filmed primarily in and aroud Amsterdam, Holland. Included in the book are numberous photos, compleye cast listings, original air dates, directorial credits and a synopsis of each episode.
