In A Bride for Hamlet, author Tom Grifa draws characters from eight different Shakespearean plays to engage his audiences in "having fun with Shakespeare."What would Hamlet's life be like if Claudius had not murdered Hamlet's father, yet still seduced and married his mother? This comedic drama parodies Shakespeare's Hamlet by having the Prince forced to choose a bride whose royalty and wealth will merge with Denmark's to make Hamlet's country a power once again. Hamlet's dilemma is two-fold: he does not want to marry so soon after his father's death; nor does he wish to marry someone whom he does not know or love. Polonius sets up interviews with five women, all of whom were in other Shakespearean dramas. The plot thickens as the treachery begins.
