Books by William Robertson

The Scots historian William Robertson (1721-93) published this work in 1791. It is a synthesis of all earlier western accounts of India from classical times to the sixteenth century, and a long appendix describes 'the genius, the manners, and institutions of the people of India'.

This 12-volume set incorporates Robertson's final corrections and revisions for the four histories and the published sermon. Also included are miscellaneous writings and speeches by Robertson, and biographical and critical works about him taken from scarce pamphlets and periodicals.
