Yvonne Davis-Weir was born in Kingston, Jamaica to parents Melbourne and Edith Davis, and was later raised in Park Hall, Clarendon, which is also in Jamaica. She attended Frankfield High School and Clarendon College. After her high school graduation in 1975, she began her career as a nurse. In 1985 she shifted her career to start her own business which is still being operated today. She did this while walking in her divine calling as a pastor at Rehoboth Outreach Center located in Miami. Yvonne was a victim of domestic violence which results in the birth of her organization Women Empowering Women (W.E. Women) which advocates for women and families who are victims of domestic violence. As a result of her horrible experience, she was inspired to write her second book titled 'A Survivor's Story', her first book is titled 'Spiritual Abuse.' She is a past student of Trinity International University (Miramar, Florida). In 2015 she graduated Magna Cum Laude with her Bachelor's degree in Christian Ministry; and in 2017 she received her Master's degree in Theology. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Education for Community Care and Counseling: Marriage and Family at Liberty University which is located in Virginia. Yvonne is passionate about helping others, and she will use her experiences (good and bad) and her knowledge to help as many as she is able to. One of her favorite scriptures is found in Matthew 25:40b "Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me." (ESV).
In many homes today, there are countless women who are silently suffering from domestic violence. Sadly, due to fear and other personal reasons, these women do not receive the help they desperately need. In this book, Yvonne Davis-Weir shares her personal story of how she suffered for several years at the hand of a physical and emotional abuser. This is her story of how she survived and overcame domestic violence. By sharing her story, Yvonnes aim is to help other women who are being abused and also to raise awareness to this serious issue.
