  • - A Progressive Champion and Conservationist
    by Vikash Dabriwal
    £8.99

Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States, left an indelible mark on American history through his progressive policies, dynamic leadership, and dedication to environmental conservation. From his early days as a rancher and soldier to his transformative presidency, Roosevelt's biography is filled with adventurous exploits and impactful political achievements. Born into a wealthy family in New York City, Roosevelt overcame health challenges during his childhood, developing a determined spirit that would define his life. He pursued a rigorous education and demonstrated a keen interest in natural history and public service from a young age. Roosevelt's political career began in the New York State Assembly, where he quickly earned a reputation as a reform-minded legislator. His leadership during the Spanish-American War earned him national recognition and paved the way for his appointment as Assistant Secretary of the Navy. Roosevelt's ascent to the presidency came after the assassination of President William McKinley in 1901. As President, Roosevelt championed a progressive agenda focused on tackling the growing power of monopolies, advocating for workers' rights, and promoting social welfare reforms. His Square Deal program sought to balance the interests of labor, business, and consumers, ushering in an era of increased government regulation and intervention in the economy. One of Roosevelt's most significant legacies lies in his commitment to environmental conservation. He set aside vast amounts of land for national parks, forests, and wildlife refuges, establishing a precedent for the protection of natural resources. Roosevelt's conservation efforts were driven by his belief in the responsible stewardship of the nation's natural heritage for future generations. Beyond domestic affairs, Roosevelt played an influential role in shaping America's role on the world stage. He advocated for a more assertive foreign policy, emphasizing American naval power and intervening in international conflicts to protect American interests. His "Big Stick" diplomacy and efforts to build the Panama Canal solidified the United States' position as a global power. Roosevelt's dynamic personality, assertive leadership style, and commitment to progressive ideals made him a beloved and controversial figure. He faced criticism for his expansionist policies and for his willingness to use executive power to advance his agenda. Nevertheless, his impact on American society and politics cannot be understated. Theodore Roosevelt's biography serves as a testament to his boundless energy, intellectual curiosity, and dedication to public service. His progressive policies and conservation efforts continue to shape American politics and environmental consciousness. Roosevelt's legacy as a transformative president, fearless reformer, and advocate for social justice and environmental stewardship remains relevant and influential to this day.

What started out as an epilogue turned into a book of its own. The 13 stories you will read are compelling. They should be. Told by actual combat veterans of the Vietnam conflict, they reflect on so many battles that were fought; battles that were of the "kill, or be killed" type. The stories are, at times, raw. Other times they are humorous. Some end well, some do not. I learned that these men still carry many burdens that started when they got to Vietnam. I found that the end of their time in service never really ended. Many still suffer. Agent Orange was a culprit. P.T.S.D. was another. None were unscathed. I was able to interview two family members of a pilot who lost his life in Vietnam. From this, I learned of the long-lasting effects on family. Each I interviewed a POW from that conflict. I still find it hard to believe that this man came back alive. He's still alive and using his story for good. One thing for sure is that every one of these fine gentlemen are heroes of the highest order. I found them humble and unassuming about taking on this role. I hope this book will elevate them to their proper place, along with their countless comrades in arms.

When will you have kids? Sounds familiar? I bet it does! The decision to not have children didn't come lightly. I started recognizing the signs at a very young age. When I was growing up, I had nephews and nieces around. I babysat some of them since I was about seven years old. I could barely keep up with them - the tantrums, the relentless crying, the mess, you name it.Kids drama aside - I saw how hard my siblings (and my parents) worked, and I couldn't help but wonder, can I do this when I grow up?Then adulthood kicked in. Societal expectations are running wild, and the world is spinning around. As questions about my childless life continue to mount, the universe continues to show me how much I am better off without children.I ask myself, is having children worth it? Absolutely - for some people, but not me.I, for one, have chosen to celebrate the joys of not having children. It is perfectly normal (and okay) for people to prioritize their careers, pursue their passions, and travel the world (or do anything they want), all without the added responsibility of raising children. And for those of you who are wondering, no - I don't need to be a mother to live a happy and fulfilling life. Don't get me wrong. I love children but from a distance.Join me as I explore what it's like to be childless and how I find fulfillment in life, sharing my personal experiences and research-backed information.

WARNING: Shocking Information While most Americans view Abraham Lincoln as a near god, there is a side of Mr. Lincoln and the Republican Party that has gone unspoken, until now. For example: Lincoln was the first U. S. President to have a communist in his cabinet and receive complimentary communications from Karl Marx. Even Adolf Hitler and a Communist Chinese Military spokesman have offered praise for Lincoln's effort in subjugating the South. The growth of the GOP was enhanced by many Marxists and socialists.Radical socialist and Marxists played a key role in the GOP's nomination and election of Lincoln. When Lincoln determined to invade the South, communists and radical socialists quickly joined the Union Army. Several close friends of Karl Marx became general officers in Lincoln's Army. Why did these radical socialists and Marxist feel a kinship with Abraham Lincoln, the GOP, and the desire for the destruction of an independent South?Communists finding Abraham Lincoln and the Republican Party objects worthy of their zeal and efforts speaks volumes as to why post-Appomattox America has adopted most if not all the early American socialist/ communist goals. The South had no such friends.

Historical biographies

At tales.as you will find exciting historical biographies about, among other things, great historical personalities, which provide a completely unique insight into their then or past lives. The reader gets even closer to the main character than ever before, by gaining greater knowledge of the person's past challenges and what has often been the basis for the drastic actions and decisions that have been made. Getting closer to Captain Sir Tom Moore, for example, in "Tomorrow Will Be A Good Day", born at the tail end of the Spanish flu epidemic, Tom Moore was raised in the Yorkshire Dales by a loving family that had not escaped tragedy. Whether fighting for his life in Burma or helming a firm back home, racing motorbikes or raising a family, he always sought to do his very best. However, our selection is far larger than celebrities and their success stories, as the range also largely caters to those readers who instead want to gain an insight into more ordinary people and their upsetting stories, which can cover the challenges that many others in these times have also faced. Captivating examples of these historical biographies can be anything from "Happiest Man on Earth" by Eddie Jaku, which is a heartbreaking and inspiring story about an Auschwitz survivor who shares what he learned about gratitude, tolerance and kindness. Or the story of Anne Frank in the biography "Diary of a Young Girl", where Anne kept a diary in which she confided her innermost thoughts and feelings, movingly revealing how the eight people living under these extraordinary conditions coped with the daily threat of discovery and death , these petty misunderstandings and the unbearable strain of living like prisoners. These historical biographies are just to name a few of many, but there are far more great biographies to be found above. Find the best historical biographies at tales.as, and be inspired, identify yourself or follow the ups and downs of an admired individual from their past dramatic lives.
