Prince of Thorns is the first volume in a powerful new epic fantasy trilogy, original, absorbing and challenging. Before the thorns taught me their sharp lessons and bled weakness from me I had but one brother, and I loved him well. But those days are gone and what is left of them lies in my mother's tomb. Now I have many brothers, quick with knife and sword, and as evil as you please. We ride this broken empire and loot its corpse. They say these are violent times, the end of days when the dead roam and monsters haunt the night. All that's true enough, but there's something worse out there, in the dark. Much worse. From being a privileged royal child, raised by a loving mother, Jorg Ancrath has become the Prince of Thorns, a charming, immoral boy leading a grim band of outlaws in a series of raids and atrocities. The world is in chaos: violence is rife, nightmares everywhere. Jorg has the ability to master the living and the dead, but there is still one thing that puts a chill in him. Returning to his father's castle Jorg must confront horrors from his childhood and carve himself a future with all hands turned against him. Mark Lawrence's debut novel tells a tale of blood and treachery, magic and brotherhood and paints a compelling and brutal, and sometimes beautiful, picture of an exceptional boy on his journey toward manhood and the throne.

What is science fiction?

The science fiction genre dates back more than 100 years, and is still one of the most read genres by the reader. It’s not accidental the genre is in constant motion in parallel with the development of the world. Our science fiction short stories also help to make science more understandable to the reader, as the books contain much more than just a story. The genre originated in the late 1800s, when the Western world became seriously modern, and the genre has since developed a number of the motifs that have characterized the genre to be the one we see today. So what is Science Fiction then? Science fiction has genre features that are characterized by incorporating fantastic elements where the reader can use the imagination, as they become acquainted with a new perspective on our own world and how it works.

Science fiction books

In our science fiction books, you are greeted by worlds where the reader more easily can identify with the world of history, as this is closer to our real world, and which is consistent with our natural worldview. Science fiction books can be something very special, and below you can find inspiration for your next amazing science fiction book.

Good fantasy books

Fantasy and science fiction are most often linked as one genre, as these cover a number of common genre features, as both genres are in non-real worlds. However, these genres also have some characteristics that are mainly far apart. Our good fantasy books primarily describe worlds that are clearly at odds with the real world and with which we cannot identify. An example of this genre could be the magical stories in the adventurous Harry Potter series, as these stories and its elements quite obviously cannot take place in the real world.
