Following a medical career, James Henry (1798-1876) focused on the study of Virgil's Aeneid, visiting libraries across Europe. Prepared for press by others after his death, this monumental multi-volume commentary, published between 1873 and 1892, remains a landmark in Virgilian scholarship.
