The main topics of the book are traumatic experiences, stress processing and dyslexia with some new perspectives on this old phenomenon. The interdisciplinary character of this book is represented in contributions of scientists from different areas of psychology, special education, and linguistics.

The main topics of this book relate to dyslexia, traumatic experiences, strain and stress experiences, and some special methodical problems regarding qualitative research methods. The international and interdisciplinary team includes authors from Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Morocco, Sudan, South Africa, South Korea, Iran, China, Portugal, and Germany.

This study assesses the long-term psychological consequences after the 2004 Asian tsunami in Kerala, India. The results indicated that the participants who were affected by the tsunami showed significantly greater psychological distress and symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) than a control group.
