Generalized probabilistic theories (GPTs) allow us to write quantum theory in a purely operational language and enable us to formulate other, vastly different theories. As it turns out, there is no canonical way to integrate the notion of subsystems within the framework of convex operational theories. Sections can be seen as generalization of subsystems and describe situations where not all possible observables can be implemented. Jonathan Steinberg discusses the mathematical foundations of GPTs using the language of Archimedean order unit spaces and investigates the algebraic nature of sections. This includes an analysis of the category theoretic structure and the transformation properties of the state space. Since the Hilbert space formulation of quantum mechanics uses tensor products to describe subsystems, he shows how one can interpret the tensor product as a special type of a section. In addition he applies this concept to quantum theory and compares it with the formulation in the algebraic approach. Afterwards he gives a complete characterization of low dimensional sections of arbitrary quantum systems using the theory of matrix pencils.
These effects are found to be temporary and to work through two channels: First, at the consumer level, intertemporal substitution effects differ even under an identical policy rule of all agents due to individual skill and capital endowments.
Christian Loenneker systematically explores the phenomenon of magical thinking in the context of severe grief reactions focusing on intrusive forms reported by bereaved individuals seeking professional support.
The hypotheses that BASIS services and training programs positively impact firm export performance, defined as export propensity and export share, are empirically tested using the propensity score matching method.
Tikhonov regularization is a cornerstone technique in solving inverse problems with applications in countless scientific fields. Richard Huber discusses a multi-parameter Tikhonov approach for systems of inverse problems in order to take advantage of their specific structure.
Karl Michael Ziems investigates a meso-mesityl-2,6-Iodine substituted Boron Dipyrromethene (BODIPY) dye regarding its functionality as photosensitizer in a two-component light-driven hydrogen evolution.
The author manages to prove that both a trained forecasting algorithm achieves a prediction accuracy of 92.49 % and statistical methods in machine learning lead to a significant increase in forecasts compared to naive forecasting models.
Michael Lambertus examines the influence of perceived homosexual sexual and gender nonconform behaviors on the elicitation of two moral emotions, disgust and contempt, as well as moral judgment of male participants in his study.
