Die Arbeit untersucht anhand der mittelenglischen Romanzen die Etablierung des Englischen als Literatursprache im Spatmittelalter. Zwei Fallanalysen liefern dabei vertiefte Einblicke in mittelalterliche literarische Adaptionsprozesse und arbeiten das spezifische Gattungsprofil der mittelenglischen Romanzen heraus.
