It's the early 1800s and Michael Fitton, now a Lieutenant in the Royal Navy, has command of the 10-gun schooner Gipsy, which he uses to capture the enemy privateers who disrupt the trade between the British held Caribbean islands.
First published in 1993 Mr Fitton's Prize follows the adventures of sailor Michael Fitton. When Michael Fitton joins the HMS Fortitude as master's mate all he wants is a chance to prove himself a loyal member of the new crew and earn a much-longed for promotion.

Now past middle-age and still only a lieutenant the widowed Michael Fitton is in command of the gun-brig Cracker and has sailed to the Baltics to escort a convoy bringing timber back to Britain.
First published in 1998, Mr Fitton at the Helm tells of the further exploits of sailor Michael Fitton. When the commander-in-chief of the West Indies Squadron orders a second officer onto the schooner Gipsy, Lieutenant Fitton is far from pleased.
First published in 1994, Mr Fitton and the Black Legion charts the adventures of hero and sailor Michael Fitton. It is February 1797 and 1400 of the French army have landed on the Pembroke coast.
First published in 1991, A Ship for Mr Fitton continues the adventures of real-life hero and sailor Michael Fitton. A desperate sea-chase ensues and Mr Fitton must use all of his resourcefulness and naval expertise if he is to escape the French warship and keep his promise to his wife.
After a disastrous and dangerous encounter with a French frigate Michael Fitton, master's mate, finds himself in charge of the Courier's few survivors. Mr Fitton in Command was first published in 1995 and is one of a series of fictional novels about Michael Fitton, real-life sailor and hero.

And it seemed to Fitton that these stirring events were put in train by a cockroach - or to be more precise, half a cockroach. First published in 2000 Mr Fitton's Hurricane was the eleventh and last of Showell Styles' sequence of novels about Fitton, a real-life seafaring hero of the Napoleonic age.
