A broad range of physical and chemical phenomena are accessible by means of low energy ion beams. The purpose of this volume is to provide an understanding of low energy ion-surface interactions, along with a review of current research developments and promising application areas.
Recent advances in both experimental techniques and theoretical methodologies have meant that increasingly sophisticated studies concerning the formation, structures, energetics, and reaction dynamics of state- or energy-selected molecular ions can now be performed.
This work focuses on some of the fundamental chemistry and physics associated with the behaviour of large ions. It addresses the issues in a quantitative fashion, in order to elucidate some of the key recent advances which have taken place.
Experimental and theoretical advances since the mid-1980s have changed our understanding of organic ions. This volume provides an overview of current areas of research, including ab initio methods, photoionization, photoelectronic and photo-dissociation studies.
