Though it is a story that involves travel, it is not typical in any way... After living in Rennes in northwestern France for some time and beginning to pay attention to some troubling signs, Claire determines that it is time to leave that city. As an artist and a creative, she finds that life in Bretagne is a little stale, affecting not only her art, but also every fiber of her being. So, she decides on a new life plan, one that will allow her to travel all over the world, practice her art, meet new people and build community with them. And she is going to do it all with her best pal, her motorcycle - the Phoénix. Feeling freer than she ever has, Claire and her trusty companion take the next big step by taking the ferry across the Strait of Gibraltar from Europe to Morocco, so excited for what the world has to offer. But, Claire's new life and lifestyle are almost brought to an abrupt halt when a catastrophic event occurs while she and The Phoenix are riding - alone - in a Moroccan desert. Will the Phoénix come back to life or will Claire lose hers before it really has a chance to begin?Teachers: this is a level 2 book.
Vincent is Seychellois and lives in New York while working for the Embassy of Seychelles. He is used to solving problems in his work life. In fact, he is really good at it. He is so good that the embassy is going to honor him at a special event. But Vincent's problem-solving skills are put to the test when he is forced to deal with family issues, both with his son in New York, and back home in Seychelles where his daughter still lives with her family. In Seychelles, Pierre was a doctor and a prominent member of the community. He and his wife were living a good life with their two boys - at least until the accident. Unable to deal with the loss of his wife and younger son, Pierre is forced to leave Seychelles behind and start anew with his older son at his parents' home in New York. Sad and angry with his new reality in the United States he tries to numb his pain and in doing so, alienates his parents and his son, Jean-Marc. Jean-Marc had just started high school a couple of years ago when his mom and brother died in an accident in Seychelles. Like his father, he is still sad and angry, but Jean-Marc always has his music. Rock music. He loves his guitar and how playing it makes him feel: free. As if losing half of his family wasn't enough of a burden, Jean-Marc also has to contend with the typical teen issues - especially when it comes to relationships. And these relationships, while accepted by both of his grandparents, are the cause of some huge problems between Jean-Marc and his father. How will the men of this family navigate it all?
Church, for me, has become a feeling of sickness that isn't going away! The more I see in this church world I've lived in-now have been away from-and the journey I am on, the more I realize that church communities, and many Christians alike, have either lost sight of, or just blindly follow, their church/religion without understanding what the church is really supposed to be. Henceforth, that's why I've adopted my version of a popularized film catchphrase "I see church people" (if you've ever seen the movie Sixth Sense, this equates with what the basis of the movie is about: "I see dead people"). To put it simply, I firmly believe the church as we know it is becoming dead to society, and for many Christians as well. I believe all of this is leading most churches to the beginning of a dying church. Slow death by overchurching, overreaching, being overly busy-maintaining the machine of what this is becoming. We believe we are doing the right things, feeding our souls, self-medicating with song and message and then going home, waiting to do it all over again the following Sunday. We've created this false world that has taken the reality of what God intended, and made it this unreal, false way of living this so-called Christian life. We talk out of both sides of our mouths, contradicting ourselves in trying to convey a message that Jesus never intended. Jesus had a simple message that we've made complex, mainly because of theological knowledge that has infiltrated the mind of a generation. This theological knowledge has been handed down generation after generation into a tradition that less resembles Christ, and more resembles a Sadducee or Pharisee mind-set. We think we know something. Church, being the Body of Christ is not about Sunday Mornings. It's about "Serving The World Right Outside Our Door."I believe that this book pertains to all ages whether you're churched or not. But, I feel the locked in churched people, pastors, leaders, priest and so on are the ones that this will challenge the most. Specially those locked in tradition, familiarity, routine and sameness. Even though it will be challenging to all.

Come sta reagendo quest'ultimo?

Writing is a healer to a heart that has too much to say. A story of failure and serendipity led the Author to write the various facets of life, and become the voice of the moment. The book offers absurdity that shifts to lucidity. Aspects we hesitate to talk about in a society that suppresses an individual power and resist them to grow according to the gifted potential. Before we seek growth of contentment and fulfilment, we need to analyse the root cause of common drawbacks each one of us encounters. Where are we going? To offer wealthy realisations is the penman's claim to invite you on a journey of serendipity and realism. How do we grow? Everybody has a journey to share and a view to express. The process of this book invites to the pillars we need to understand to break the caged voices. The moment we are born, we are facing life and death, simultaneously. The nectar of poetry, the lines of wonder, reluctance and celebrations are waiting to witness your eyes. The next second is waiting for you. You are responsible for your life, decide your journey.

This exquisite collection of poems from Palestinian-Canadian Maha Zimmo presents the reader with jewelled vignettes from Zimmo's lived experiences of relationships under conditions of diaspora, misogyny, and challenges to and of faith. The politics of friendships, lovers, and bodies are sinuously interwoven with fragrant imagery symbolizing the continuity of family history. As much as this collection is an homage to love, survival, and enduring faith and connection, it is also a fierce indictment of racism, toxic relationships, sexist misogyny, the misappropriation of Islam, and the wounds that such oppressions leave upon the bodies, spirits, and an entire people. The beautiful imagery of these poems does not conceal the piercing insights that lie like thorns in each delectable verse.
