Hace como un año atrás, cuando ya habían transcurrido algo más de doce meses desde que había comenzado la pandemia del COVID en todo el mundo, me encontraba un poco resfriado, con malestar en el cuerpo y con esporádicos momentos de una fiebre que parecía un resfrío común y pasajero. En los días siguientes, todo cambiaría gradualmente, la fiebre que había iniciado mostrando síntomas muy comunes, pasoa manifestarse con más frecuencia y de manera más fuerte. Con el pasar de las horas y de unos dos días, la fiebre alcanzó temperaturas muy altas y ahora se manifestaba junto a mucho malestar, dolor y un nuevo componente: la agitación y la dificultad para respirar. Una de esas noches, mientras la fiebre golpeaba mi cuerpo y el malestar hacía imposible conciliar el sueño, me senté al borde de mi cama y escuche la voz de Dios en mi interior, que me decía: Desde este día te entregaré una verdad para cada día. Esto sucedió durante las jornadas siguientes, en las que el Espíritu Santo hablaba a mi corazón cada día, trayendo una verdad para esa jornada. Había pasado ya cerca de unos cinco días en este ascenso de todos estos síntomas. La doctora, una hermana de lacongregación de la que somos parte, muy dispuesta vino a verme para seguir el tratamiento. Ella fue un verdadero ángel enviado por el Señor. En el proceso de seguimiento que me hizo en esos días determinó que necesitaba realizarme unos exámenes de los pulmones y otras pruebas complementarías. Al día siguiente, me llevaron con mucha dificultad al hospital, casi no podía reconocerme al tardar varios minutos en bajar calladamente las escaleras del edificio donde vivía. Algunos amigos vivieron para ayudarme y podía percibir en su mirada una preocupación al verme tan débil en ese momento. Yo no sabía si llorar, tratar de gritar o quedarme inmóvil por la impotencia que sentía al experimentar que mi cuerpo no podía reaccionar, ni comportarse como normalmente lo hacía antes de esta situación de salud. Al llegar al hospital y haberme realizado los exámenes, las palabras de la doctora fueron: -Debemos internarte, tus pulmones se encuentran comprometidos con bastante infección y estos síntomas pertenecen al COVID. De no hacerlo es muy peligroso para tu vida-. Con estas palabras, solo vi a mi esposa despedirse y junto a ella nuestra amiga doctora que junto con un enfermero conducían la silla de ruedas en la que estaba hasta llegar a una fría habitación de ese hospital. Cuando me dejaron en la habitación, el Señor habló a mi corazón y me dijo: No quiero que te pongas en una posición de enfermo sin esperanza.
