My grandchildren and I were standing at the edge of a still lake feeding the ducks, when my granddaughter picked up a pebble and tossed it into the lake. The pebble quickly sank to the bottom of the lake, but the effect of the pebble created many ripples. They keep spreading and spreading from the center and there was no way to stop them. We live in a culture today that promotes comfort, not challenges. We want instant gratification free from consequences of our choices. The most important relationship a person will ever have is with themselves. The question is, are we doing the best they can to become more than they have become. As King Hiram of old, I have always been a lover of David. David was a warrior king of Israel, and was referred to by God as a "e;man after mine own heart."e; David's shield and buckler protected him from attack from the enemy. I pray the poems God has given me provide similar protection for the readers of these poems.

There is quite a contrast to the poetry I have written after becoming a Christian and my first poem. Having a personal relationship with Christ Jesus is truly life-changing. As the Holy Spirit speaks to my spirit, I just start writing these prayers as I hear the words being spoken by the Holy Spirit, whom I allow to lead, guide, and direct my path in life.

No other fount I know nothing but the blood of Jesus, and for this reason, I can say it is well with my soul. My sins are washed away and now I'm clean. This book is written with the intention that all who read it will draw closer to God. I am not ashamed of the Gospel for it is the power of salvation. You might wonder how an average girl, living a normal life, could find herself in the pits of addiction. I wondered that very thing. How could I have ever allowed myself to be controlled by a pain pill? So I decided to trace my steps, and find out exactly where I went so wrong; that's how this book came into existence. My story was written entirely by me. It's an honest account of my journey from being broken to becoming a far more beautiful version of myself. When I say beautiful, I'm not referring to physical beauty; I am referring to my soul, my spirit, and the essence of who I am. There is much that I am ashamed of, and sincerely wish I could undo. However, I have realized that I cannot change the past; I can only learn from it and make the present and future better than I thought possible. So, I choose to look at my journey as a blessing, for it's made me into the person that I am today, and I'm extremely proud of who I have become. Making the best choices in every aspect of our lives is of the utmost importance. Confessions of a Coward is a book intended to give men the freedom to acknowledge their fears and failures as men and more specifically as husbands and fathers. Once they find the strength to do so, they can then discover the path to courageous manhood. This is not a how-to book written from an "e;expert"e; perspective. This book does not give the answers but attempts to point men to the answers found in the grace, mercy, and truth of God. This is truly a confession of sorts and hopefully a road map out of the abyss of the cowardly lifestyle far too many Christian men are living today.
