Patrick Darcy’s son, PJ, unlike his father, who fought in The First World War, has fought only personal battles with how he wishes to live his life. He has been brought up in a privileged environment while admiring his Grandfather Johnathon Darcy. Q.C.’s high standing within the ranks of Barristers and Judges. It was obvious to all that PJ would follow Johnathon’s domain. Before and since graduating with honours at the Adelaide University 1957, his in-between time had been spent following his heart, working with horses at a Morphetville racing establishment. When PJ is finally presented with cap and gown, he takes  store of his future; his heart versing his head. PJ has another unfulfilled dream of working in the outback on a Cattle Station. Twelve months spent  in this spiritual part of Australia, he hopes will clear his mind and give him guidance to what he should do with his future.Once in The Northern Territory, he meets a part white Aboriginal girl, who has a deep connection with horses. PJ admires Tarni’s methods on horsemanship, while Tarni admires PJ for his good looks, the type of man he is and his friendship. Meantime, Tarni has to constantly avoid the unwanted sexual advances of one of the station hands, Robbo, who is also responsible for breaking in the horses. He does this with a cruel hand. It breaks Tarni’s heart. Her hatred for Robbo and his desire to rape her has murderous consequences. Fortunately PJ follows his instincts just intime to save Tarni’s life from her degenerate predator. PJ’s  future then takes another turn. Before he’d had time to do some soul searching, he was thrown into an attempted murder case. This time as a witness, not a prosecutor. His mind and heart are set whirling, even more so than before, when he ventured to the cattle station. Will he chose law or horse training? Will Tarni win his heart as well as his respect? This story is full of twists and secrets that will keep the reader guessing.
