It is clear from a range of research that cytoplasm is not merely a buffered solution of proteins and enzymes but contains a series of complex filamentous structures. The cytoskeleton is the collective term given to these filaments. This title talks about cytoskeleton.
Provides review of state of the art technologies associated with these challenges, including the developments in cartometric analysis techniques able to support high levels of automation among multi scale derivation techniques. This book demonstrates how theoretical developments have translated into commercial systems deployed within NMAs.
Suitable for professional engineers or automotive engineering students working on off-road vehicles, this work provides an introduction to terramechanics, the mechanics of vehicle/terrain interaction. It covers the principles of off-road vehicle and terrain engineering, that include SUVs, tractors and agricultural vehicles and military vehicles.
A hands-on guide to finding the sources of electromagnetic interference and then fixing the problems. It includes basic theory of EMI as well as explanations of why this problem is becoming more serious as the international scope of the communications and electronics industries grow.
Surveys the field of mathematical economics. This book emphasises on choice under uncertainty, general equilibrium analysis under conditions of uncertainty, economies with an infinite number of consumers or commodities, and dynamical systems. It is suitable for researchers, students, economists and mathematicians.
Covers analytical and policy issues arising from the collapse of the paradigm of development based on import-substituting-industrialization in most developing countries; and the demise of centrally planned economies of Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union. This title is suitable for researchers and advanced graduate students.
Examines models, estimation theory, data analysis and field applications in econometrics. This work is suitable for professional use by economists, econometricians, statisticians, and in advanced graduate econometrics courses.
Published on a twice yearly basis to bring updates in medicinal chemistry, this title presents research in the field of drug discovery.
Unsteady-state operations of catalytic reactors provide plentiful opportunities for research and commercial realization of efficient heterogeneous catalytic processes. Forced unsteady state conditions generate unique distributions of process parameters and catalyst states often unattainable with traditional, steady-state operation. The unsteady-states can be created by periodic changes in input flow parameters, such as changes in inlet temperature and composition, catalyst circulation through reaction and regeneration zones, or periodic flow reversals through fixed catalyst bed. This can result in increased productivity, selectivity, capital savings and operating cost reduction (higher energy efficiency). Efficient environmental technologies for treatment of toxic emissions, acid rain and greenhouse gas emissions can also be developed using the unsteady-state concept. The Proceedings communicate recent progress in these areas of research and promote future development. The aims are to establish relations between academia, industry, engineers and scientists from all over the world, to stimulate new catalytic technologies as well as fundamental research, and to create new concepts for the development of effective catalytic systems. It presents the most up-to-date research in catalysis.
Exploring the transition from the foraging societies of the Late Paleolithic to the emergence of settled farming societies and the emergent pastoralism of the middle Neolithic, this work strives to help answer the diverse and numerous questions of this critical transitional period.
Provides an overview to modern trace fossil research and covers the essential aspects of modern ichnology. This book presents a review of the state of ichnology at the beginning of the 21st Century and summarizes the basic concepts and methods of modern trace fossil research.
The Juneau Icefield Research Project (JIRP) was formed to find a prototype area to study Alaska's coastal glaciers and trends in climatic change. This work documents the study of the Juneau Icefield Research Project with a year-by-year account covering activities, personnel, logistics and research.
Glaciotectonism is an important component of modern glacial theory. This book uses maps of glaciotectonic structures and landforms (for North America and central Europe) for a better understanding of the role of glaciotectonism as a key component of glacial theory. It provides a comprehensive review and description of glaciotectonic phenomena.
Based on lectures given in the First Russian School-Seminar on electromagnetic soundings of the Earth held in Moscow on 15th November, 2003, this book provides scientists and technologists with the achievements in theory, techniques and practical applications of the methods of electromagnetic sounding.
Introduces the principles of electrochemistry with an emphasis on materials science. This book is organized around the main topic areas comprising electrolytes, electrodes, development of the potential differences in combining electrolytes with electrodes, the electrochemical double layer, mass transport, and charge transfer.
Part of the "Progress in Brain Research" series this volume examines the emerging role of the hypothalamus as a crucial link between the sensing of nutrients and the control of insulin sensitivity, glucose uptake, and glucose production. It also shows the important interplay between the immune system and energy metabolism.
