Welsh Monsters & Mythical Beasts is a lushly illustrated guide to Welsh monsters, looking at dragons, fairies and elves. C.C.J. Ellis' artwork is rich in detail and colour and brings the creatures of this compendium to life. Illustration is accompanied by researched text and story, and this new edition also includes a Welsh language guide so that each of the creatures might be known by their original Welsh names. You may have heard of the Red Dragon (Draig Goch) featured on the national flag of Wales, but have you heard of the Water Leaper (Llamhigyn Y Dwr) or of the Mary White (Mari Lwyd)? Ellis aims to re-introduce the beasts of Welsh myth and legend to the world and bring a touch of Wales to your shelves. - 9x9 edition featuring a new Welsh language guide, a new cover, and an extra illustration- perfect for those folklore, mythology, and legend aficionados- collectors of regional books will be delighted with this edition
Very little is known about creatures that live in the deepest depths of the ocean. This unique book brings these deep-sea creatures to light for little eyes with simple descriptions so that an interest in the natural mysteries and wonders of our world might be explored by the very young, very early. As with other natural science board books from publishers like Flying Eye Books and Sourcebooks, our plan is to create a series of board books so that each might support the other. This will be the first in Eye of Newt's series of board books, YIKES!, which will explore the strange and unusual with simple, playful language in full-color, charming illustration. This title aims to tap into an audience that is interested in less conventional animal books for their young readers. As opposed to the "farm animal" books and standard "under the sea creature" books we're dredging up the deep and creepy and presenting it in a fun and friendly way, offering a little something new (like the vampire squid!). Written by the all-star Kelly Ward-Wills, children's editor and author of Alphabet of Unloved Beasts!Illustrated by Steven James, illustrator of the Super Happy Bears series and Thunder Down Under.
This timeless classic is revisited by the deft charcoal work of Ashly Lovett.
