Abraham Jarrett served as Register of Wills for Harford County, Maryland, from 1799 to 1813. Three ledgers containing wills are identified by his initials for the period 1774 to 1814. This publication covers wills for the period 1774 to 1800, which were recorded in two ledgers identified as "AJ-2" and "AJ-R." Both ledgers have wills grouped by the first letter of the last name. The AJ-2 ledger contains the first part of the alphabet (A-Q) and the AJ-R ledger covers the balance (R-Z), hence the "R" designation. The third ledger is not covered in this volume. These ledgers, covering the first twenty-five years of Harford County's history, include wills of many individuals who participated in the Revolutionary War as well as information on their descendants, real estate, slaves, and in a few instances, their ancestors. It gives names of all persons (executors, witnesses, slaves) and tracts mentioned. A complete index of persons and tracts, with special indices of slaves by first names and by associated surnames, adds to the value of this work.
Mount Olivet Cemetery, located at 2930 Frederick Road, Baltimore, Maryland, was founded in 1845 and dedicated on 16 July 1849. It replaced an earlier cemetery located at Lombard and Paca Streets in downtown Baltimore. No records have survived from the old address, and no information about the original cemetery is known to exist. The records herein are not tombstone inscriptions, but rather the cemetery management records which have been transcribed and indexed by the author. These records give various data, including dates of death, burial, plot owners, dates of disinterment, sometimes dates of birth, parents, cause of death, and other data. A full-name index completes this work.
This series includes accounts and inventories gleaned from Worcester County, Maryland, will books. In addition to the full name of the testator and bequests, entries may include: name of spouse, children, grandchildren, and/or other relatives; executor(s); and witnesses. A full-name index adds to the value of this work.
This volume contains inscriptions from cemeteries in northern Baltimore County, Maryland, with a few cemeteries in the central area. The inscriptions from sixty-one cemeteries were copied over a period of years by volunteer members of the Cemetery Committee of the Baltimore County Historical Society. The location of each cemetery is provided. A surname index adds to the value of this work.
