RED ALERT FOR ROMANIA is a seductive adventure novel set during the Cold War. It is built according to all the rules of the genre: seismologists involved in the series of events caused by the collapse of a Soviet military satellite, secret services engaged in tough operations to recover the module containing the military codes of the satellite, double agents... But the adventure, although exciting, is only a pretext that motivates the foray into a sick world - Romania before the Revolution of December 1989. The epilogue of the novel brings us to Romania after 1989 whose continuities suffocate changes, revealing their fragility. Professor Dr. Silviu ANGELESCU University of Bucharest
What is presented in this is not a topic-by-topic review of what is already known but rather; it pulls together what is already known and combines this information with fresh new insights with a singular focus. The book establishes the common thread leading to a new way to establish 2-way Extraterrestrial Communication. This presentation is unique and has never before been conceived or put to the test. For the past decade, the author has been conducting research and studying the science of extraterrestrial existence and extraterrestrial communication means and methods. The result of all of the research in combination with the dream-like vision of an extraterrestrial communication code has culminated into the publication of two books on the subject. This book is the second. The vision came to the author is very much the same sort of vision several Nobel Prize winning scientist experienced leading to their discoveries (cited herein). This book takes the reader on a journey that leads directly to a scientifically based hypothesis about establishing ET communication. It further presents the foundation of an experiment designed to put that hypothesis to the test consistent with the universally accepted standard scientific method. The next step is to execute the experiment proposed and get ready to communicate with our brothers out there in the universe beyond earth.
I heard these words from a charming and wise brilliant actress Viola Davis whom I admire immensely; "Let us exhume the bones of the dead and tell their stories...." that touched my heart, so I decided to heed her words and penned this story for young children to read or read to them in hopes it would kindle a spark of fire in their quest to learn about the dehumanizing tragedy of slavery as free labor in Southern States and to compare enslaved humans with animals enjoying their freedom in Africa. Knowing truths according to biblical scripture, St. John 8:32, "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" knowing truths should be the first step in gaining knowledge and aligning oneself with facts. It was my challenge in this children's book not only to cultivate awareness about slavery being unjust but prompt readers' journey to seek the truth about slavery and be able to formulate their narrative. Paraphrasing the scripture Philippians 4:8, true freedom comes from knowing things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of excellent report only if a mind is morally sound and can honor a living God. There is no shame in knowing truths. Only to accept the knowledge and, with a grateful heart, right the wrong thru deeds of love and kindness. The Declaration of Independence declares, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal." This is the uniform standard ideal our forefathers put in place for Americans to adopt and should live. The practice of slavery was in place before the adoption of the Constitution and was a part of the social wealth system that made it almost impossible to change. Today let us all stand to right the wrong thru our deeds of love and kindness and know that any form of denying a person true liberty is wrong.
Surviving Reproductive Loss: Stories of Creativity and Positive Transformation in Women's Lives tells the fascinating stories of the lives and creative accomplishments of nearly fifty women who experienced infertility, pregnancy loss or stillbirth. Robert J. Dinkin, PhD, historian, and Roxane Head Dinkin, PhD, clinical psychologist, have teamed up again to write a follow-up to their previous volume, Infertility and the Creative Spirit, published by iUniverse in 2010. The Dinkins tell the stories of women innovators in writing, entertaining, sports, politics, and social reform. When Julia Child was living in Paris with her husband Paul and unable to become pregnant, she turned to learning the art of French cooking, ultimately producing her famous cookbooks and TV shows. When she showed up with a hot plate and an omelet pan on an educational television program, the first cooking show was born. Read about her and the many other women who made major contributions in their own fields and who also changed the larger society by contributing to the well-being of women and children.
Detective Ida Mae Rollins searches for the identity of a homicide victim who was dismembered and dumped along a road in southeastern Wisconsin. Her subsequent search for the killer leads the diminutive, spiky-haired blonde investigator on a body strewn trail that stretches from Wisconsin into Iowa and ultimately into southern Illinois, Arkansas and Missouri. Ida, as she prefers to be called, gets a lucky break while grocery shopping during a visit to her mother's farm. She spots a man she had believed to be murdered and follows him across the state line. What follows is a fast-paced discovery of drug dealing involving the man and his partner, a strikingly pretty pathological liar of a woman who detests men and her own mother. But is there anything linking the woman to men who were murdered in Wisconsin, Iowa and Missouri? Ida digs deep for physical evidence even as her own boss, Sheriff Peter Clark, wants action taken against the man who reported what he believed to be mere littering.
"Dream Season is a well-written historical novel that makes Los Angeles County's past come alive I strongly recommend this book. Stories of nineteenth-century baseball, family lore, and the history of Merriken's hometown of Norwalk, California, are beautifully told in this heartwarming tale that is based on the life of a pitcher and local celebrity, Walter Settle."-Barbara Field, President, Norwalk Historical Heritage Commission In 1890, a tall and robust fourteen-year-old named Walter Settle played baseball for a small community just north of his hometown in Los Angeles County. An exceptionally talented and motivated athlete with an incredible pitching arm, young Walter dreamed of playing baseball professionally. When news of his talent eventually caught the attention of Baltimore Orioles Manager Ned Hanlon, Walter's aspirations of playing in the big leagues seemed destined to become reality. But Walter had to choose between his dream and his responsibility to his family and community. Inspired by the life of a true baseball hero and the history of Norwalk, California, this heartwarming novel tells the story of a young man's ambition to play professional baseball despite his family's disdain for the sport, his unrelenting push for perfection, and his disappointments and triumphs along the way.

This study provides a clear picture of how bullying affects students and schools in the country of Georgia. The results of the study outline victimization trends according to factors such as region, school size, student gender, age, and parental occupation. The study offers practical recommendations to teachers, parents, and educators who want to prevent bullying and tackle its complex psychological consequences. Some of the questions considered in the study are the following: - What different forms does bullying take? - What factors lead individuals toward becoming bullies or victims? - What effect does bullying have on the teaching and learning process? The main hypothesis of the study is that a school's environment can be a key determinant of bullying behavior, and when school culture does not allow the realization of aggression, fewer students become victims. Whether you are a parent, a teacher, a counselor, or school administrator, the detailed research in this book will serve as an essential resource to prevent and eliminate the practices of bullying and to help students succeed.

Stephen Axelrod's father, Solly, had his son pegged for his news truck delivery route from the beginning. But Stephen knew there had to be something else out there. In Surf Avenue, he shares the story of his life as a tough Jewish boy growing up in Queens and his quest to escape the blue-collar footsteps his father left for him to follow. Humor and resilience take Axelrod through the challenges of growing up in Cambria Heights, Queens, in the 1950s. His father, a second-generation truck driver for the Daily News, wishes for nothing more than to see Stephen in the driver's seat of his own truck, hauling newspapers for a living. However, despite steady work with union benefits, this former high school dropout has an entirely different life in mind. Stephen's escape from Queens and his father's grip takes him on a poignant search for himself-and through a world without self-imposed boundaries or limits. From a stint in the US Marine Corps, to a seat on the New York Stock Exchange, an acting career, and beyond, Stephen's life takes many poignant and sometimes shocking swerves-with one constant: the secret insatiable desire for his father's approval. Can he find wholeness?
The ultimate aim and purpose of this book is to give us some insight into dealing with the negative and positive vicissitudes of life and how to cope with them. It seeks to remind us that in times of joy, fortune and success, we should celebrate those moments with grateful hearts. We should learn not to take them for granted but to claim them as blessings, count them and capitalize on them.On the other hand, when distress confronts us, when trouble engulfs us, we should first be conscious of the fact that while trouble and calamity may be inevitable, that they are neither fatal nor final. Misfortune is not a permanent feature of life. It is transient, as one of our psalms reminds us ,"heaviness may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning."
The character-driven short fiction and poetry of Susan Knier are on full display in her fifth collection, "The Week Before Evanston." In these pages, you will meet a U.S. president hilariously in touch with his inner child, a woman who fabricates her history in a desperate bid to win friends, a grandfather harboring a life-altering secret and many memorable others. These stories speak to the core of human motivation: Why do we behave as we do, especially if the results are unpredictable, disappointing or perhaps dangerous? The engaged, open-minded reader will find much to ponder in the author's dream accounts. These pieces crisscross genres and sometimes defy categorization. Dystopian scenarios, humor and social commentary stand next to encounters with rogue creatures and even a classic nightmare or two.

On October 30th, 1956, a CIA-sponsored coup (code-named "Operation Straggle") was to take place in Damascus with the support of the Syrian military. The operation was cancelled on October 29th, one day before the planned coup, after Israel, the British and the French launched attacks on the Suez Canal. History refers to these events as "The Suez Crisis", and it provoked the Syrian military into refusing to go along with the coup. Two weeks later, the Soviet Union and Syria signed a Pact in which the Soviets promised Syria heavy weapons and other military support in exchange for more political and foreign policy influence.Alarmed by these events, and suffering an involuntary drawdown of CIA personnel in Damascus, Beirut's CIA station chief sends two covert operatives into Syria a week later to monitor a Soviet intelligence team that had arrived in Damascus, ostensibly to implement the terms of the Pact. Alan Harper, posing as a freelance investigative reporter, and Anne Small, posing as his Arabic-speaking interpreter, soon discovered the real objective of the Soviet team. The action is fast-paced as Harper and Anne, at great risk to themselves, fend off the Syrian secret police, a Soviet hit squad, and the Soviet intelligence team itself, in their attempt to disrupt the Soviet operation.
When I first started writing this book I typed an introduction trying to explain why everyone should read it. I wanted to let all the salespeople of the world know why they should care about their customers, and I wanted to convince them that the top salespeople are the ones who care about their customers the most. While I still believe that this is true, I don't know it for sure. Regardless, I can say with confidence that this book is not for salespeople who don't care about their customers. If you don't care about your customers, please don't read any further. In fact, if you don't care about your customers, please consider a different career. It's people like you who stay in sales for the wrong reasons that give salespeople a bad reputation. If you do care about your customers, then this book is about how you can show them that you care even more. This is about how you can help them in their own personal journey toward happiness. The old-school ways of selling where you try to manipulate and cajole your prospective client into buying something are truly obsolete. We live in a time when people have endless information at their fingertips. They care what you think, but they know much of the basic informationthemselves. Most of all, they want a salesperson they can trust. If you are looking for more manipulative sales tactics to figure out how to take advantage of more people and "close more sales," then please don't continue to read this book.If you are interested in helping to promote what I believe to be one of the most noble professions on the planet, that of an ethical salesperson, then please read further. And, share what you read. I want everyone to be happier. That is why I wake up each morning. That is why I run mywealth management firm. That is why I wrote this book. I hope that is why you are reading it.
