Strategies and tools to become a better leader by developing an inclusive perspective at work Instead of seeing inclusiveness as a "trendy concept," The Power of Inclusion: The value of inclusion in contemporary leadership shows its audience on how inclusion is an emotion that is achieved only through effective practice abilities. This book delves into what inclusiveness promises us, discusses the relationship between inclusiveness, productivity, and diversity, evaluates concepts that are useful for us to increase our capacity for inclusion and looks at the obstacles that stand in the way of inclusion (such as unconscious prejudices) to help teach readers understand how to change and become an inclusive leader. Written by Dr. Riza Kadilar, President of European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC Global), this book explores topics including: How inclusion is effected when people feel respected, valued, trusted and safe, have a sense of belonging and are able to be their best self Why diversity in aspects like age, appearance, culture and education can be turned into a benefit for any organisation Why leaders must regard the differences, and not be regardless of the differences, of their team members The Power of Inclusion earns a well deserved spot on the bookshelves of all coaches and mentors, business leaders, HR professionals and managers who seek to reinvent their perspective surrounding timely interpersonal topics and achieve greater organisational cohesiveness and success as a result.

Agroforestry is a brilliant land use farming practice that covers 1.6 billion hectares (78 percent in the tropics and 22 percent in the temperate regions) to enhance plant diversification, productivity, and livelihood across generations, maintaining eco-restoration. It ensures socioeconomic upliftment and a standard livelihood for people along with many ecosystem services for sustainable development under resilient climates, which are today's key topics popularized among policy makers, stakeholders, scientists, ecologists, and climate supporters in the tropical world. Agroforestry provides tangible and intangible benefits in sustainable ways in the tropical world. Modifying tree-crop interaction also plays a key role in plant productivity in different agroforestry systems in the tropics, which further ensures socioeconomic development and livelihood security. However, more than 75 percent of the world's poor directly depend on natural resources for their livelihoods. Adopting climate resilient agroforestry not only maximizes productivity and farmers' socioeconomic status but also mitigates climate change issues through carbon sequestrations for better carbon management in the tropics. However, various anthropogenic factors lead to natural resource degradations that induces climate change issues and maximizes carbon footprints. Farmers adopting sustainable farming practices, especially agroforestry in the tropics, in the long run, are not only benefitting from the additional income they can generate via selling carbon credits but also from improving their soil health, yield quality, acreage, and profitability. Carbon trading in tropical agroforestry is seen as a way to provide financial incentives for farmers' to adopt environmentally friendly practices, which helps to mitigate climate change. Moreover, agroforestry's importance and services are not on pause due its huge potential that to fulfill nine out of the seventeen sustainable development goals. Poverty reduction (SDG-1), a zero hunger policy (SDG-2), health improvement and good well-being (SDG-3), gender equality (SDG-5), economic growth and national development (SDG-8), reduction inequality (SDG-10), greater productivity (SDG-12), a climate action plan (SDG-13), and life on the land (SDG-15) are the key goals addressed that can be achieved through sustainable agroforestry practices. Therefore, scientific management strategies in agroforestry would maximize plant diversity and productivity, provide higher socioeconomic and livelihood generation, and maximize carbon restoration along with many other environmental services for sustainable development. In this context, the present book will address agroforestry management for livelihood security and sustainable development in the tropics. Ecological interactions and productivity in tropical agroforestry ensuring greater ecosystem services and livelihood resilience under changing climates are also discussed, as well as building livelihood resilience through monetization of carbon credits in agroforestry in the tropics. Livelihood and sustainability-based policy in agroforestry, its challenges, and a future roadmap are also included. This title focuses on new insights related to updated research, development and extension activities for combating climate change through carbon sequestration to enhance intensify greater productivity, and livelihood and ecosystem services for ensuring the goals of sustainable development.

The Science and Treatment of Psychological Disorders 16th Edition balances theory and research with practice and clinical application to give learners a solid foundation in psychopathology and develops their understanding with up-to-date and relevant examples and contexts. From its first edition, the focus of this book has always been on the balance and blending of research and clinical application and on the effort to involve the learner in the problem solving engaged in by clinicians and scientists. It continues to emphasize an integrative approach, showing how psychopathology is best understood by considering multiple perspectives -- biological, cognitive, behavioral, and socio-emotional -- and how these varying perspectives can provide us with the clearest accounting of the causes of these disorders as well as the best possible treatments. With this 16th edition, "Abnormal Psychology" is dropped from the title. The importance of stigma and mental illness is discussed throughout the book, and never is this more important than now when many social ills are too easily blamed on mental illness (e.g., gun violence) while we continue to warehouse people with mental illness in jails at an astonishing rate. With each new edition, authors Ann Kring and Sheri Johnson update, make changes, and streamline features to enhance both the scholarly and pedagogical characteristics of the book. They also devote considerable effort to couching complex concepts in prose that is sharp, clear, and vivid. The domains of psychopathology and intervention continue to become increasingly multifaceted and technical. Therefore, good coverage of psychological disorders must engage students and foster the focused attention necessary to acquire a deep, critical understanding of the material.

"Life history traits are defined as those related to the timing and magnitude of major events in the life of an organism (e.g., birth, maturation, reproduction, and death). Life history theory aims at explaining the huge variation in these trait values and their combinations that we see in nature. Hence, life history strategies are at the heart of evolutionary ecology, illuminating how organisms are structured and how they allocate resources, behave, and evolve, in response to different environmental pressures. Throughout the years, the study of life history evolution has experienced some major advances. First, while classical life history theory relied on optimization approaches and had some major empirical successes, more advanced approaches, involving frequency- and density-dependence, explicit population dynamics, and evolutionary game theory, have further promoted our understanding in the field. Second, while classical theory often emerged from observations of life history patterns in a specific group of animals (e.g., clutch size in birds), later work extended and further developed these principles to the study of a variety of organisms including different groups of vertebrates, invertebrates (in particular, arthropods), plants, fungi, and even bacteria. At the same time, concepts from life history evolution were used to promote our understanding of human evolutionary ecology. Third, while classical life history theory often focused on a few basic life history traits, most commonly including lifespan, growth, and investment in reproduction, later works extended our view to consider additional traits such as dispersal, mating systems, sociality, etc., either as life history traits on their own merit or in the context of their interaction with major life history traits (e.g., investment in reproduction and longevity). Fourth, while classical life history theory often addressed the evolution of each organism independently, later advances extended this approach to consider life history evolution also in the context of inter-specific and even community level co-evolutionary interactions. Fifth, with the advance in molecular, genetic, and physiological methods, we can now better understand the underlying proximate mechanisms of life history patterns. Sixth, while theory often focusses on evolutionary responses to environmental conditions, we now have accumulating evidence that evolutionary processes may occur at short enough time scale to allow eco-evolutionary feedback loops."--
