Comprehensive overview of the principles, theories, and techniques needed to build end-to-end semantic communication systems, with case studies included. In this rapidly evolving landscape, the integration of connected intelligence applications highlights the pressing need for networks to gain intelligence in a non-siloed and ad hoc manner. The traditional incremental approach to network design is no longer sufficient to support the diverse and dynamic requirements of these emerging applications. This necessitates a paradigm shift towards more intelligent and adaptive network architectures. From theory to application, Foundations of Semantic Communication Networks describes and provides a comprehensive understanding of everything needed to build end-to-end semantic communication systems. This book covers various interdisciplinary topics such as the mathematical foundations of semantic communications, information theoretical perspectives, joint-source channel coding, semantic-aware resource management strategies, interoperability under heterogeneous semantic communication users, advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and machine reasoning techniques for enabling connected intelligent applications, secure and privacy-preserving semantic communication systems, and the coexistence and interoperability of semantic, goal-oriented, and legacy systems. The book examines unique features of end-to-end networking with semantic communications, including instilling reasoning behaviors in communication nodes, the role of the semantic plane in information filtering, control of communication and computing resources, transmit and receive signaling schemes, and connected intelligence device control. It emphasizes the importance of data semantics and age of information metrics. The book also discusses the profound impact of semantic communications on the telecom industry, highlighting changes in network performance, resource management, traffic, as well as spectral and energy efficiency. Furthermore, the book provides insights into the mathematical constructs and AI theories for formulating semantic information, such as topology and category theory. It explores real-world applications, case studies, and future research directions as wireless technologies transition to 6G and beyond. Written by four recognized experts in the field with a wealth of expertise from academia, industry, and research institutions, Foundations of Semantic Communication Networks addresses sample topics, including: Novel Semantic Information Formulations: Proposing new formulations using rigorous mathematical frameworks such as category theory and algebraic topology. Practical Applications and Networking Features: Focusing on real-world scenarios, addressing multiple access and networking challenges through collaborative frameworks for multi-modal transmissions, examining multiple access schemes to enhance transmission efficiency, and ensuring coexistence with legacy systems. AI-Native Air Interface and Semantic-Aware Resource Allocation: Enabling efficient large-scale systems for 6G and beyond wireless systems through AI-native air interfaces and semantic-aware resource allocation strategies. Advanced AI and Machine Reasoning: Utilizing causality and neuro-symbolic artificial intelligence for minimalistic transmissions, and achieving generalizability and transferability across contexts and data distributions to develop high-fidelity semantic communication systems. Multi-Domain Security Vulnerabilities: Examining security vulnerabilities associated with deep neural networks in semantic communications, and proposing encrypted, privacy-preserving semantic communication systems (ESCS) as a solution. Foundations of Semantic Communication Networks is an excellent forward-thinking resource on the subject for readers with a strong background in the subject matter, including graduate-level students, academics, practitioners, and industry researchers.
"Process design is based on steady state conditions -- process variables, and physical and chemical parameters, are assumed known, fixed and time invariant. However, refinery and chemical plant operations are never at steady state, and it is the transient nature of real-world operations that makes process control an essential requirement for achieving safe and acceptable plant performance. The primary roles of the process control strategies implemented in an operating plant are to (i) hold plant operations at a desired operating point despite process upsets, (ii) provide smooth, fast and safe transitions from one operating point to another, and (iii) keep plant operations on the safe side of limiting process constraints. The control strategy design fundamentals described and discussed are applied to develop numerous specific control strategies in a wide variety of realistic process configurations."--

We have been dependent on plants for food, furniture, construction, and fuel since prehistoric times. Plants in all forms have tendered their services to mankind. Humans have selected plants based on their value and potential for domestication. People living on different continents of the world use plants to treat various diseases and various systems of medicines were generated, including the Ayuvedic, Unani, Chinese systems of medicines. Due to the advancement of science and technology, various non-conventional methods to treat diseases were also identified. Each system of medicine has advantages and disadvantages. Systems that utilized plant based natural products for the discovery of drugs have attracted attention across globe due to their minimal or lack of side effects.
"Based on the classic text by Fair, Greyer, and Okun, this new edition has been completely revised and updated. This is a time of mounting urbanization and industrialization and resulting stress on water and wastewater systems. Clean and ample sources of water for municipal and industrial uses are becoming harder to find and more expensive to develop. Effective design and efficient operation of engineering works ask, above all, for a fuller understanding and application of scientific principles. The results of scientific research are being incorporated with remarkable success in new designs using both U.S. and SI systems equations, examples and problems as well as new operating procedures. Volume 1 of the fourth edition is ideal for courses devoted to hydrology and hydraulics, with groundwater and surface water sources addressed in adjacent chapters. The fourth edition grounds readers in both the science and art of water and wastewater engineering that global engineers need to service their customers and communities."--
Biolubricants are a viable alternative to synthetic lubricants because they are produced from organic materials such as plant oils, waste oils and by-products. Renewable biolubricants are the subject of research because of their biodegradability, eco-friendliness, and favorable socioeconomic consequences to counteract imitations of synthetic lubricants. Biolubricants have thus emerged as an ideal substitute for mineral oil-based lubricants, as significant economic and environmental acceptability has been received over the last few decades and it has been estimated that there would be a further steady growth in its demand over the next few decades. Furthermore, biolubricants' high-quality lubricating properties, high load carrying ability, long service life, and fast biodegradability have expanded the recent interest. These lubricants can be derived from different sources of vegetable oils, non-edible oils, waste cooking oils (WCO) and microbe-derived oils. Among all these sources, the use of WCOs and microbe-derived oils have received immense interest and provide superior quality biolubricants. This outstanding new volume covers the prospects and processing of feedstocks for biolubricants, extraction techniques, new advancements in the field of bio-based lubricants, epoxide lubricants, hydrogenated lubricants, microbial-based biolubricants, nano-biolubricants, polyester-based biolubricants, lubricants from waste oils and waste materials, its economic and environmental acceptability and biorefinery approaches. The book will be helpful to industry professionals and engineers of all types, students, and other stakeholders working in the field of lubricant, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering and material science, tribological sectors and biorefinery industries. It will also be of great interest to new start-up companies working in the area of processing feedstocks for biolubricant production and end use application, biorefineries, valorization of biolubricant waste, and in the recycling industries.
Millions of young people across the world have impairments. Because of their apparent problems, these young people have typically been marginalized or excluded from schools. Studies on augmented reality applications in education for special children are still in their early stages and there is a dearth of research on the effects and implications of augmented reality in education for special children or individuals with special needs, such as intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and physical disabilities. Technological advancements have enabled the creation of whole new learning environments, vastly expanding the breadth and sophistication of teaching and learning activities. For example, several studies have shown that virtual reality and augmented reality can help autistic people understand facial emotions and improve their social skills. By compiling a collection of conceptual and research chapters investigating the infiltration of AR/VR into teaching and learning practices and experiences for disabled people, this book will fill a significant gap in current research literature.
