NOTES ON... CARING Discover the connection between care and healing with this transformative book Care is often regarded as fundamental to the nursing profession, almost synonymous. The relationship between care and nursing is presented as though no further explanation is required, no theorisation of what it means to care, and no elaboration of the role played by care in nursing as a profession and a practice. Given the agreed-upon centrality of care to nursing, there is an urgent need for a work analysing this key relationship and what it can mean for nursing professionals. Notes On... Caring meets this need with a clear, concise discussion of caring in the healthcare context. Beginning from the premise that care is essential to fostering the health and healing of others, it sets out to clarify the subject and articulate an ethic of care that can be cultivated in nursing and medical practice. With the COVID-19 pandemic placing nursing care more than ever at the forefront of public health, there has never been a better time to understand what it means for nurses to care. This book is ideal for all nurses, midwives, and other medical professionals or students.

In the digital world, computer vision is a trending technology and it is highly in demand in the security and surveillance industry, as well as for self-driven cars and entertainment applications. This surge in the popularity of computer vision is due to the emergence of state-of-the-art deep learning technologies that can solve computer vision tasks with very high accuracy, which was considered unachievable a decade ago. Computer vision is used to provide human intelligence and understanding to computers. Digital images are used as input to the computer and later, machines can identify the objects in an image. Vehicle detection and counting at the border of countries and states/cities have become famous through aerial images because of security concerns. Sixty-seven percent of the world's population will be cities by 2030, so ground infrastructure cannot keep up and is costly to overhaul. Hence, vehicle detection and classification are important research areas in vision and computing applications. Due to the alarming improvement in areal imaging and vehicle tracking on highways, detection is always challenging due to vehicles' different shapes and sizes and different resolutions of satellite images.             The motivation for this book is twofold: object recognition has unique characteristics and the demands of the object recognition module are increasing rapidly in the market through aerial images. Object detection provides an intersection between computer vision and deep learning methods and it gains the attention of many researchers because of real-world applications. Aerial images are beneficial for providing timely rescue operations during natural disasters such as floods, fires, etc. The use of aerial imagery to provides immediate emergency help to humans. With the rapidly growing importance of military and security applications, object surveillance has become a critical area of research. Aerial imagery is used to predict poverty estimates in several places worldwide. According to the report of the Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR), the aerial data services market is going to increase up to $23.4 billion from 2017 to 2025. The objective of this book is to provide more relevant information about aerial recognition system-based challenges, applications, and security. Emerging AI-based technology will play a vital role in reducing crime. This book will assist readers in understanding how AI is widely employed for further research and professionals for providing solutions to different societal problems. Readers will learn how AI offers numerous applications and has been beneficial for different industries. Artificial intelligence will have significant ramifications for humanity, to the point where it will redefine what it means to be human. AI technology aims to develop intelligent solutions for different industrial sectors and societies and offers to complete tasks in a stipulated period with more efficiency and accuracy. This revolutionary technology helps individuals automate their tasks by making traditional systems smarter.

Guest-edited by Owen HopkinsMultispace exists at the intersection of the physical and digital, and in the blurring of their previously clear dividing lines. Multispace is not a single space, but a hybrid space where, in effect, we occupy multiple spaces simultaneously. We enter it on a Zoom call, when we are in our office and in a meeting with 20 people; when we are cycling down a country lane whilst racing against thousands of others who also use the Strava app; when we are watching a TV show while live tweeting; or, perhaps most literally, when wandering around the local park looking for creatures that only appear on a smartphone screen.A fundamental question of this AD is why the phenomena that multispace describes are of concern to architects. The answer is that multispace points to a situation that is at root an architectural one. Offering both a collective and highly personalised experience, static and dynamically customisable, and above all at the same time public and private, multispace lies at the centre of a set of tensions, concerns and preoccupations at the core of our conception of architecture as theory and practice. It is the messy space between, with rough and uneven edges that are constantly shifting.Contributors: Aleksandra Belitskaja, Alice Bucknell, Jesse Damiani, Wendy Fok, Andrew Kovacs, Lara Lesmes and Fredrik Hellberg, Micaela Mantegna, Holly Nielsen, Giacomo Pala, Paula Strunden, Lucia Tahan, and Francesca Torello and Joshua Bard.Featured architects and artists: iheartblob, Ibiye Campis, Office Kovacs, Space Popular and Liam Young.

"Dental local anesthesia is the principal means at our disposal for controlling the pain caused by our treatments and procedures. The importance of dental local anesthesia is so profound that it is impossible to imagine carrying out our work without it. This approach has considerable advantages and an excellent safety profile over other techniques for managing pain in our day-to-day activity as compared to sedation and general anesthesia. Furthermore, administration of local anesthesia is one of the most common procedures in clinical practice and is generally the first treatment administered. If its effect is inadequate, our work is complicated enormously"--
