Natural disasters are a set of harmful events that are not of human origin. These events are usually unpredictable or at least their occurrence cannot be predicted for a long time. Natural disasters have different types. Earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis, hail, avalanches, lightning, extreme temperature changes, droughts, and volcanoes are examples of natural disasters. Currently, three approaches or paradigms of thought are emphasized in the literature on the vulnerability of societies to natural hazards. The role of humans and land use in the occurrence of landslides is extremely important, and among these factors, road construction in the region by humans has the first priority in the occurrence of landslides. The complete cutting of forest trees by humans is the second priority. In addition to these factors, natural factors are also effective on the occurrence of landslides, among which the factors of geological formation, fault, slope, and vegetation cover, and finally climate. Workers have to work at high altitudes, control heavy equipment or carry heavy tools and are exposed to loud noises for many hours of the day, which puts them in dangerous situations.

Access control includes attendance checking and intrusion prevention. It is used to protect property, employees, and other assets of a company or institution. Since attendance checking and intrusion detection are important segments of many educational institutions and other businesses as well, it is important to make these processes faster, easier, and as convenient as possible. Lots of institutions are suffering from unreliable attendance checking methods, so we have decided to use biometrics, more precisely face recognition to automate and improve this overall process. So, the research question is how will using face recognition improve managing attendance of employees or students in one institution. For educational institutions, multiple photos will be recorded during the class so that in case of students leaving class after the first shot, they will be removed from the attendance sheet. All recognized people will be stored in the Mongo database as an array of features and later read from the database by using Python script. Mongo will improve the speed of the overall recognition process.

This book looks at the impact of Boko Haram and the religious conflict on the local and global self-image of the Church as well as the impact on the Church's mission in Nigeria. The Church's response and commitment to the mission are very unique, differing from the Early Church's response as well as the response of the Church in North Africa's history. The religious challenge in Nigeria provides opportunities that are hard to see due to threats to life involved. The book argues that the experience of the Nigerian Church serves as a test for global Christianity in its missional expansion. Taking advantage of the opportunities this challenge offers will grow the Church locally and globally. Failing to take advantage of the same, however, will plunge the Church into deeper crises of self-image and missional responsibility.

The child is the bedrock of any society and as such needs to be trained, adequately handled and protected. Children are the greatest assurance of the continuity of human society. Without children today there will be no society of humans tomorrow. Yet children are the most vulnerable members of the society. Onwe (2014) stated that Nigerian children are highly vulnerable to income gap or poverty, cultural values, religious incidence and unacceptable economic and social factors. This vulnerability usually exposes children to abuse. Olok-Ake (2000) described child abuse as all sorts of injustice, abnormality and inhuman treatment given to the young feeble ones by the adult generation. The African Network for the Protection and Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN) defined child abuse as the physical, emotional or sexual exploitation by parents, guardians or others. According to Alokan (2010) Child abuse includes any behaviour which neglects the child's survival and development needs, causes physical or emotional injury, harassment or subjects the child to measures, situations and experiences which interfere with the healthy development towards adulthood.

Translating idioms is always a challenge for a translator, inter alia, due to the differences of languages in terms of system of culture. The focus of this book is in identifying and describing strategies used in translation of idioms. More specifically, it examines the idiomatic expressions in the original version of Dan Brown's novel "The Da Vinci Code" and how they have been translated in both Albanian versions of the novel, "Kodi Da Vinçi", translated by Perikli Jorgoni and "Kodi i Da Vinçit", translated by Amir Kasoruho. For the sake of comparison, translation of the idiomatic expressions in the Serbian version of the same novel, "Da Vinčijev kod", translated by Aljosa Molnar, is examined as well. The findings show that at least five different translation strategies are used for translation of idiomatic expressions in the novel. The strategy used the most is the translation by paraphrase. The book should help shed some light on translation strategies that may be used when translating idiomatic expressions, and it may be beneficial to translators, students and other researchers, providing information and knowledge on idiomatic expressions and their translation.

Despite the vast scholarly research on the Indian Removal Act of 1830, little is known about the perspective of Indigenous tribes, notably the Sauk and Fox communities that were directly affected by the assimilation agenda of President Jackson. Accordingly, the overall image that emerges from the Euro-American history is negative, depicting Native American groups as hostile, brutish, and violent. This work recovers one of the North American tribes 'military perspectives written primarily for an American audience and discusses resulting racial issues found within the Native society, in particular, the effects of relocation on family ties, sense of place and identity formation. Black Hawk's rhetoric adds nuance to our understanding of who the Sauk tribes were, why they initiated the deadly war of Black Hawk, and how their identity evolved while affected by removal, war, defeat and displacement. This study argues for a malleable perception of Native American identity formation, one that recognizes the amalgamation of the old and new identity and perceives the attached transformations as natural and necessary.

This book studies the capacity of hybrid wireless networks with opportunistic routing (OR). We first extend the opportunistic routing algorithm to exploit high-speed data transmissions in infrastructure network through base stations. We then develop linear programming models to calculate the end-to-end throughput bounds from multiple source nodes to single as well as multiple destination nodes. The developed models are applied to study several hybrid wireless network examples. Through case studies, we investigate several factors that have significant impacts on the hybrid wireless network capacity under opportunistic routing, such as node transmission range, density and distribution pattern of base stations (BTs), and number of wireless channels on wireless nodes and base stations. Our numerical results demonstrate that opportunistic routing could achieve much higher throughput on both ad hoc and hybrid networks than traditional unicast routing (UR). Moreover, opportunistic routing can efficiently utilize base stations and achieve significantly higher throughput gains in hybrid wireless networks than in pure ad hoc networks especially with multiple-channel base stations.

Proper dissipation of thermal energy from a system is always a requirement for many equipment and industries. Any device that runs using external power source always generates heat. The generated heat in such systems must be expelled to the surrounding. Maximizing the surface area of the devices generally enhances the cooling rate. However, it makes the system bulky. Therefore, a proper utilization of the surface area of the system is an important parameter to have an efficient heat dissipation system. It was always desirable to have a heat sink in the all devices that occupy minimum space with maximum effectiveness. The present work analyse conjugate heat transfer physics in a 3-D system of aluminium pin fins, with air as the working fluid. A finite volume solver, ANSYS Fluent has been used in simulating a staggered pin fin arrangement placed over a base plate. The solver is validated using the experimental data. The thermal analysis has been performed on fins with various cross sections. Consideration is given to fins having circular, hexagonal, pentagonal, triangular and drop-shaped cross sections with various inlet velocities.

For the semantic indexing of Arabic documents, we are building a new ontology (SchemNet) based on Arabic schemes and their meanings and the combination of the contents of Arabic WordNet (AWN) and Arabic VerbNet (AVN). Then we use this ontology to filter documents in order to find the relevant documents that respond to the user requests. Although the indexing process is based on the stemming phase, the current available solutions have proven that this step consumes a lot of time when processing a large volume of data. To the best of our knowledge, there are no works addressing this problem and especially through the use of agents to improve the indexing process of Arabic documents. Our objective is indexing Arabic documents based on the multi-agent system to improve the indexing process on the term of time processing.

Most of the primary spectrum is already assigned, so it becomes very difficult to find spectrum for either new services or expanding existing services. At Present government policies do not allow the access of licensed spectrum by unlicensed users, consists them instead to use several heavily populated, interference-prone frequency bands. As the result, there is huge spectrum scarcity problem in certain bands. In particular, if the radio spectrum is scanned, including the revenue-rich urban areas, it can be seen that some frequency bands in the spectrum are unoccupied for some of the time and many frequencies band are only partially occupied, whereas the remaining frequency bands are heavily used. We propose a new algorithm named CSAC. CSAC is the first one in the literature that exploits the only available channels in designing CH sequences while providing guaranteed rendezvous.

Dentistry is one of the fastest growing science of medicine. With the introduction of many newer instruments and anaesthesia extraction is a routinely carried out procedure in dental office. Tooth extraction remains an essential component of both the art and science of dentistry despite the enormous progress in the prevention of dental disease made during the last three decades of the twentieth century. Dental extraction has always been considered to be an unpleasant procedure for the patients due to pain phobia. With the advent of local anaesthetic drugs techniques and standardization of surgical procedure, extraction is no longer considered to be painful experience to the patients. Gone are the days when extraction was supposed to be one of the crude procedure. The control of the patient is fear and anxiety has long been a challenge to the dental practitioner. Today's extraction procedure is painless and anxiety-free provided that one employs good principles of patient management and pharmacokinetics.
