DECLARED AN ENEMY OF ROME, ARRIUS MUST NOT ONLY FACE GENERAL ARVINNIUS'S RE-LENTLESS EFFORT TO FIND AND EXECUTE HIM, BUT ALSO THE HOSTILITY AND DISTRUST OF THE NATIVE TRIBES NORTH OF HADRIAN'S WALL.General Arvinnius gave the tribune a hard look. "Querinius, Arrius is to be taken alive no matter the cost. I want to be present when the treasonous bastard is crucified."Now an outcast and a fugitive of Rome, Arrius is not easily accepted by the Selgovi in spite of Ilya and his close friendship with her son, Joric, High Chieftain of the Selgovae Tribe. Arrius works hard to make the tribal clan chiefs understand the inevitable slaughter that is about to happen when the tribe confronts the legions about to march north. In time, he is able to convince the tribesmen to change their individual style of combat to a more unified approach and avoid pitch battles in favor of skirmish and ambush. When Joric is killed early in the conflict, Ilya becomes queen of the Selgovi. By now, Arrius has won the respect and confidence of the tribe. The subsequent invasion by the Roman legions is made more problematic by disaffection among the tribes. When Arrius is captured by Tribune Querinius, it becomes both a rallying cry for the Selgovae Tribe and a turning point in the war. Although the defeat of Querinius is significant, the tribe begins to accept the inevitable that Roman might is too great for the tribes to overcome; consequently, it falls to Arrius to play a key role in the Selgovi withdrawal north into Caledonia where the tribes already there intend to resist the southern migration. "Historical fiction at its very best, Preston Holtry's Enemy of Rome provides a powerful and most satisfying conclusion to his Arrius trilogy. With effective dialogue, provocative male and female characters, and exhilarating sections of violence, this well researched book makes us feel as though we are on the inside looking around us rather than merely on the outside looking in. A must-read novel."-John Vance, author of Echoes of November and Awake the Southern Wind"Preston Holtry has surpassed himself with Enemy of Rome, the final installment of the Arrius trilogy. Based on the first two novels, I expected a thrilling end and Preston did not disappoint! … With realistic characters and unforgettable images of life in the Roman encampment and the tribal villages, Preston weaves a masterful tale, intertwining historical fact and riveting fiction. Be prepared to stay up late as you won't want to put it down. This is an exciting finale to the trilogy, right to the last page!"- Randall Krzak, author of The Kurdish Connection and Dangerous Alliance"Enemy of Rome continues the story of the maverick Roman who is at odds with the men who command him… a most believable novel. He transports the reader to the northern frontier in the second century very well. The dramatic ending is satisfying and the writer teases the reader with literary pleasures to come. Preston Holtry has truly joined the ranks of those who write the better books about the Roman Empire."-Griff Hosker, author of the Anarchy and Dragonheart book series."A sprawling, multi-dimensional historical and epic novel in which Mr. Holtry exercises masterful control. He seamlessly weaves together history, adventure, passion, and family dynamics into a fascinating story that is always engaging, intriguing, and illuminating. It is also a helluva lot of fun."-Hank Luce, author of A Darkness in the Pines, Secret of the Nightingale Madonna, Brainways, and Crown of Thorns
WANT ACCESS TO SOLID SCIENTIFIC FACTS REFUTING THE INCESSANT MEDIA HYPE SURROUNDING CLIMATE CHANGE? THEN THE MYTHOLOGY OF GLOBAL WARMING IS FOR YOU!The Mythology of Global Warming is intended to provide the general public with a broad spectrum of scientific and factual information on the subject of Climate Change. This book debunks the incessant, emotional, and largely unsubstantiated claims made by the progressive media and climate scientists that industrial societies such as the United States are destroying our planet due to the use of fossil fuels. What causes global warming? What is a greenhouse gas? What impact do carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels actually have on the Earth's climate relative to naturally occurring phenomena? Is all ice on Earth really melting, and are sea levels rising at a catastrophic rate? Are all forms of extreme weather, including hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, and droughts increasing dramatically? Are polar bears and other life forms being pushed to the brink of extinction? Will all of this mayhem cease if fossil fuels are replaced by 'green' renewable energy sources? Answers to these questions clearly show that hard facts do not support any of the above dire predictions. The science of global warming is indeed 'settled'; Global Warming is a myth."...Global warming proponents can't prove that man is destroying the planet due to global warming, but Dr. Bunker can prove that we are not. He packs a lot of punch in this small package. Read it, and arm yourself for the great debate."--Phil Valentine, nationally syndicated talk show host of the Phil Valentine Show on Westwood One"In the past 20 years I have reviewed two dozen books dealing with Anthropomorphic Global Warming. There has not been nor ever will be a more comprehensive and understandable book on this subject which is to critical to the entire world's population."-Jay Lehr, Ph.D. Science Director, The Heartland Institute"This is a scholarly work written by a true scientist, yet in a way that makes the topic still accessible to the average person interested in understanding both the science and also the politics of global warming. Highly recommended."-Dr. Jennifer Marohasy, Senior Fellow, Australia's Institute of Public Affairs, co-author of "Climate Change: The Facts, 2014""Unlike so many others, Dr. Bunker's book is so much more than a supposition wrapped up in a pretty bow of meaningless numbers. If you've been waiting for a book that gives actual facts in an easily checked form, you've found it."-G. Dedrick Robinson Ph.D., co-author of Global Warming: Alarmists, Skeptics & Deniers."A timely and well researched book not only for the thoughtful engaged reader, but also for the general public. The book is up-to-date and deals honestly with continuing controversies and uncertainties."-Dr. Sonja A. Boehmer-Christiansen, Department of Geography, Hull University, Former Editor, Energy & Environment.

A DIABOLICAL LAST WILL CREATES CHAOS IN THE COMMUNITY RESULTING IN THE MOST HILARIOUS SPOOF SINCE A CONFEDERACY OF DUNCES. The assets of the surprisingly valuable estate of a small time, eccentric lawyer become the target of the unscrupulous and greedy in the bucolic town of Pine Ridge, North Carolina, setting off a chain of events no one could ever have even dreamed of, let alone imagined. It's almost as if the wily old lawyer is playing one last trick, resulting in a rollicking and unpredictable ending. When the opposing attorney's masterful oration was over, Jimmy G was actually sweating. His nervousness was palpable."Do you wish to respond to that argument?"the judge asked him. "Nah, Judge, I can't touch that. Even I gotta a'mit it was pretty good. But Judge, ya know, it'sall fluff. Smoke and mirrors. Judge in dis here courtroom we got a Bible." He made a show of picking it up. "But Judge, we got a different Bible here too. You an' me. We got dis one here." Jimmy picked up an unobtrusive green soft cover book and held it high for the judge and everyone else to see. "Judge, dis is de general statyoots of our state." He opened it and made a show or reading to himself, his lips quivering. No one coughed, rustled, or even burped., as if the courtroom had been evacuated. Praise for O'Halloran's Will A barely successful street lawyer dies but puzzles the townfolk by leaving an unexpectedly large estate to either a church he never attended or to his dogs. David Tanis uses his experiences of almost half century as a judge and a trial lawyer to craft this story of greed and stupidity by those trying to get their hands on the antique gold coins, the winning lottery ticket and an ancient stock certificate now worth millions. The usual suspects are right out of central casting for a 1930's court house drama. A quick read. This well crafted story will educate and leave the reader smiling and laughing out loud.-Tom Keith, District Attorney (Ret), Forsyth County, NC.David Tanis gets it just right. The small Southern town of Pine Ridge comes alive, and so do the characters.- living and dead. Tanis, a lawyer and former judge, makes the courthouse crowd come alive with a light touch of authenticity. A wonderful story that readers will find totally engaging. Sit back and enjoy.-Joseph L.S. Terrell, author of the Harrison Weaver Mysteries."Tanis has crafted a fascinating legal tale. ARRIUS IS FACED WITH THE MOST FATEFUL DECISION OF HIS LIFE WHEN EMPEROR ANTONINUS PIUS PLANS TO EXTEND THE EMPIRE'S BORDER IN BRITANNIA NORTH OF HADRIAN'S WALL."On the contrary, Arrius, if you're fortunate enough to see the sun rise tomorrow, it will be you who will be on the way to Eboracum ¿ in chains, I might add. Guards seize him by order of Tribune Quintarius. Marcus Arrius, I place you under arrest for conspiring against the empire of Rome."At the fort called Banna, one of 14 forts on Hadrian's Wall, Marcus Arrius begins the slow process of turning around a dispirited and ineffective Tungrian Cohort stationed there. His efforts are made more challenging, and dangerous, by the hatred and jealousy of Matius Betto, the centurion he replaced as commander. It does not take long for Betto and Tribune Tiberius Quinterius to combine efforts to discredit Arrius. In time, Arrius gains the respect and loyalty of the officers and legionaries at Banna with the exception of a few disgruntled officers who remain committed to Betto. His malaise caused by the brutality of the Judaean war dissipates as his relationship with Ilya deepens when she becomes pregnant with their child. However, it is Ilya who becomes the unwitting means for Quinterius and Betto to accomplish their objective when her heritage and kinship to Beldorach, High Chieftain of the Selgovae are revealed."ARRIUS-Legacy is a fast-paced novel set in the early days of the Roman Wall. Full of action with twists and turns it is an exciting read. It is hard to put down. The detail to the period is remarkable and it is very accurate when dealing with both the Roman Army and the tribes who lived north of the wall. The ending leaves the door wide open for the third in this very enjoyable series."-Griff Hosker, author of the Anarchy and Dragonheart book series."Preston Holtry's ARRIUS Volume 2, Legacy, is a smash hit. The bright side to his current posting is Ilya, a Selgovae woman, and her son, Joric."-Randy Krzak, author of The Kurdish Connection"If you enjoyed Volume 1 of the ARRIUS series: Sacramentum, you won't be disappointed by the next installment---Legacy. FREE-WILL IS OUR ILLUSION.Why did I do that!? What was I thinking? Behavior is a curious phenomenon and we may often wonder why we do the things we do. In short, it's because of our cells. Our behavior, the decisions we make and the actions we take, are nothing more than cellular responses. How our cells interpret their immediate environment dictates how we respond to our environment. Studies of behavior show that often we are unaware of why we make the decisions we do, and that these decisions can be easily manipulated and influenced by subtle environmental cues. What may seem like a free will decision may indeed not be so. My cells made me do it, explains the phenomenon of behavior as a matter of cellular determinism.
