Read every phrase with your heart and not just the voice echoing in your mind, as every word written here is punctuated with emotions. To the beautiful souls who find immense difficulty in stepping out of your comfort zone and expressing yourself, I hope-by the simplest of words-you come across this book. You would realize that you don't need the whole bombastic words to write a book. Just let the words flow from your heart. Ultimately, the satisfaction it brings you would be of most importance. The world cannot possibly acknowledge your talent if you do not acknowledge and act upon it yourself.Step out of the cage you have built for yourself and try. It never hurts to try than not try at all.
"Experience triumphs theory every time. It is one thing to know of a certain subject on paper; it is another to experience it in sharp pain and throbbing ache. Lilian opens her heart and life as she relates the harrowing journey that she underwent. Through the darkest moments of life, she found that her Lord Jesus Christ was always present and comforting. Faith stabilizes the emotions and feelings."If you pursue why Lilian added the bronze serpent part to her experience and the title of the book, you will be rewarded with an interesting parallelism where she found that God's promises always hold true like in the days of Moses and likewise in her own narrative. All the way climaxing in the saving act of her Lord and Saviour: 'Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in Him may have eternal life' (John 3:14-15)."Letting God take center stage remains uppermost in mind through all of what cancer throws at her. His faithfulness is like an ever-flowing stream, a powerful encouragement for the reader who looks past the ordeal and seeks divine meaning through it all."Dr. Andrew GohManagement ConsultantHonorary editor of Impact MagazineFounding elder of Riverlife Church, Singapore
The twenty-one people portrayed here represent the highest qualities of character and achievement. The group is not ideal except to the extent that it is worthy of that tribute by my personal standards. You might select a different group of people to honor. I chose this group in part because of the great pleasure I took in painting their portraits. Abraham Lincoln, Ida Wells, Frederick Douglass, Thurgood Marshall, and Martin Luther King Jr. are easily linked by their impassioned crusades for racial justice and equality. Ruth Bader Ginsburg is included for her tireless advocacy for women's rights and for social justice for all. Herman Melville, Mark Twain, and Albert Camus are preeminent writers and seekers of truth. Journalists Jessica Mitford and I. F. Stone inuenced public action and social reform for the public good. Vincent van Gogh, the incomparable modern painter, and the musicians Enrico Caruso, Renata Tebaldi, Billie Holiday, and Giuseppe Verdi arouse our deepest feelings and aspirations with the beauty of their art. Fidel Castro has done more than anyone to foil US imperialism in Latin America. And four great athletes, Satchel Paige, Jackie Robinson, Muhammad Ali, and Roger Federer, deserve our respect for their unmatched grace and prowess. -Thomas Crawford

The Void narrates the lost way, reflected in the enigma of life's new dynamics beyond the known with silence as its speech and absence as feeling. The landscape of the poems is both here and elsewhere - sometimes Machilipatnam, sometimes Oxford, sometimes Auschwitz or Colesieum. What Tomas Transtromer meant by "broken connection of things" tries to become the defining metaphors of the pervading void that encompasses the entanglement of the Marxist proclaimations, existentialist reforms and a legion of vociferous "isms" which live on the debris of the crucifixion. The book is a series of surrealistic musings that attempt to anthologise the voided and the avoided encounters and tries a re-constructive harmony from the congested space of the terminal earth. An invisibility allures our perceptions that reflect in scores of absences, juxtaposed realities and perpetual silence pervading in our both mundane and transcendental pursuits. Death stills our learning and life goes on like the ant-line on a tomb. The enigmatic gravity of the Crucifixion is invisible through the blurry picture of postmodernism. This universal deprivation is what Tomas Transtromer says " Deep in the forest there's an unexpected clearing that can be reached only by someone who has lost his way.
Is it possible to be a disciple of Jesus after God's heart? For matured Christians, this may not be an issue, but still, it is good to know or learn more about how to follow Jesus. For new Christians, walking with Jesus is a daily growing process. He or she will want to learn early in his or her Christian life how to follow Jesus. And the question is, How can a disciple of Jesus Christ experience what King David did as a man after God's heart? This had been a question in my mind for many years as I served as a missionary in Cambodia. I believe a Christian, new or matured, can be a disciple of Jesus after God's heart. In this study book, I have used some examples of David's life and his obedience to God as to why he was called a man after God's heart. I applied the combination of David's life to discipleship with spiritual disciplines to transform our lives as disciples of Jesus. Hence, in this study, we will find out how a Christian can be a disciple after God's heart. Here is how you can use this book: first you study to be a disciple of Jesus after God's heart, then you study this book the second time to be a disciple seeking after God's heart.
Symphonies of a LifetimeClarion Rating: 4 out of 5"Symphonies of Life is a wonderful spiritual undertaking that provides food for the soul. When reading Abid, I hear echoes of both the Russell Simmons Def Poetry Jam and Rumi. Her poems are truly a monument to the region and one of the region's richer gifts of culture to the world" (Cory Lowell Grewell, PhD, assistant professor of English, American University in Dubai)."Her work is, indeed, about the symphonies of life composed every day, by the high-born and the humble of this world. Each human composition is made of moments of deep contemplation, times of simple pleasure, or points where we find ourselves between a rock and hard place. These very moments are the stuff of life, and Eman's work brings us into the midst of it and shows us the subtle, transformative power of philosophic observation" (Sandra K. Alexander, American University in Dubai, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, August 2013).
