Este trabajo presenta un acercamiento historico y teorico-literario al diario personal. Se concibe el diario personal como un texto literario que mantiene un caracter autobiografico. A partir de esta hipotesis, se valoran sus posibilidades como genero literario y se analizan textos diaristicos de diferentes tradiciones literarias occidentales.
