The first of a ground-breaking series of thirteen works for orchestra, Liszt's Ce qu'on entend sur la montagne (What One Hears in the Mountains) drew its inspiration from a poem by Victor Hugo. Composed from 1848-54, it was given its premiere in Weimar in January of 1857 with the composer conducting the Weimar Hofkapelle. This new study score is a digitally-restored reissue of the score edited by Otto Taubmann in the first volume of the Liszt-Stiftung edition, published in 1908. Also included is an informative introduction by Liszt scholar Soren Afshar (Funper), a major contributor to the vast collection of Liszt pieces on IMSLP.

Falla's showpiece El Amor Brujo (The Phantom Lover) was first composed as a gitaneria for voice, actors and chamber orchestra in 1914-15. He later prepared a version for voice and orchestra which was premiered the next year. This was in turn transformed into a one-act ballet for voice and orchestra, which is how it is usually performed today. Composed for the American amateur saxophonist Elise Hall in 1903, Debussy left the orchestration incomplete at his death. The task of finishing the orchestral score fell to Jean Roger-Ducasse, who prepared the orchestral version in time for its premiere on May 14, 1919 in Paris, conducted by Debussy's student André Caplet. Parker's first Christmas cantata was composed in 1893 just before his departure from New York to his new post as organist for Trinity Church in Boston. The text was written after scriptural accounts by the composer's mother Isabella Graham Parker (1839-1904). This new vocal score is a digitally-enhanced reproduction of the one first issued in 1893 by G. Schirmer, New York.

Though originally composed for piano four-hands, Satie was persuaded to orchestrate these pieces for a concert staged by Jean Cocteau presented on 21 February 1920 featuring works by Milhaud, Poulenc, and Auric. Debussy's sole completed opera was given its premiere at Paris' Opera Comique on April 30, 1902. It was the culmination of an eight-year effort on the composer's part. Though not an immediate sensation like Puccini's "Madame Butterfly" two years later in Milan, the five-act lyric drama, after the identically titled play by Maeterlinck, enjoyed a successful run in the first two decades of the 20th century.
